We are seeking a Senior API Writer to join our Customer Education team. This role is ideal for an experienced technical communicator who specializes in developer-facing content. As a senior contributor, you will define the API documentation strategy, mentor writers, and partner closely with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, consistent, and user-focused API documentation. 

You will play a pivotal role in enhancing Zenoti’s developer experience, enabling seamless integration, and establishing industry-leading standards for our API documentation. 

What will you be doing?

• Create and maintain developer documentation: Build and manage API reference guides, tutorials, SDK documentation, code samples, and other content that simplifies integration for developers. 

   

• Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with engineers, product managers, QA, and customer support teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation. 

   

• Define standards and strategy: Establish templates, style guides, and best practices for all developer-facing content, ensuring clarity, consistency, and scalability. 

   

• Manage documentation projects: Oversee large-scale documentation initiatives, plan project timelines, and ensure timely delivery in an Agile environment. 

   

• Improve developer experience: Use analytics and feedback to identify content gaps, refine documentation, and recommend improvements to both APIs and supporting resources. 

   

• Mentor and lead: Guide junior writers, conduct peer reviews, and champion best practices in API writing. 

   

• Produce auxiliary content: Create example projects, diagrams, visuals, and knowledge base articles; contribute to release notes for API-related features. 

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• 7+ years of experience in technical writing, with at least 3-4 years of specialized in API/developer documentation. 
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and authentication methods (OAuth2, API keys). 
• Proficiency with JSON and XML. 
• Coding experience in Python, Java, or JavaScript is highly desirable for creating and troubleshooting code samples. 
• Tools proficiency (a plus): API documentation platforms (Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, Markdown). 
• Content management systems and version control (for example, Git). 
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
• Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams. 
• Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy across complex documentation. 
• User-centric mindset, and always prioritize developer experience, anticipating needs and addressing challenges. 
• Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize technical details into actionable, high-quality documentation. 
• Proven ability to mentor, lead projects, and drive strategic documentation initiatives.
