In this role you’ll be working closely with rapidly growing cross-functional teams and owning the end-to-end design of product features and enhancements - from ideation, to UX, UI and handoff. You’ll work at the intersection of behavioral psychology, product innovation, and design systems - helping users build better financial habits through intuitive and delightful digital experiences. You’ll also be given the freedom to help improve design processes, how we work together and how design speaks to and influences the rest of the organization. This role will be mainly focused on the customer repayments aspect of our mobile app, and you’ll be instrumental in helping our customers understand and manage their repayments, see their past orders, manage their spending power and most importantly, feel in control of their finances. As part of this role you will also build on and contribute to our design system library and help improve our design team ops.

  • Give and solicit feedback from other designers to continually raise our bar for quality across the entire team.
  • Help shape our design team operations by evolving rituals, tools, and processes to support cross-squad collaboration and high-velocity execution.
  • Partner closely with PMs and engineers to balance usability, technical constraints, and speed-to-market across iterative product releases.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams such as customer service, marketing, risk and compliance.
  • Work on expanding our design system, building, refining, and documenting scalable components that promote design consistency and engineering efficiency.
  • Run user interviews, usability testing, and lightweight research experiments to inform design decisions and validate concepts before launch.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • A portfolio of interaction, UX and visual design work that demonstrates your ability to solve customer problems and drive strong business outcomes.
  • 5+ years experience designing at scale in interaction, product, or UX/UI design.
  • Experience working on large scale financial consumer-experience app products (1m+ MAU’s).
  • Experience working on complex experiences that support or integrate multiple distinct products or services (such as payments & budgeting, or a suite of integrated products).
  • Deep technical Figma expertise, with the ability to employ variants, booleans, sophisticated prototyping and organize effectively for developer handoff.
  • Strong user instincts - deep curiosity for the “why” behind behaviors, and proficiency in methods that generate actionable insights.
  • Strong ability to influence roadmaps, navigate trade-offs, and drive technical scoping in collaboration with PMs, engineers and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead lean experiments, use data and hypothesis-driven design to validate outcomes, and course-correct quickly.
  • Strong design advocacy skills and the ability to turn insights and design thinking into thoughtful and compelling narratives.
  • Excellent communications skills. You are accomplished at conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences from peers to executives - both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience designing within and scaling a modular, tokenized design system across squads, with a passion for craft and consistency.
  • The ability to prioritize competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Zip is committed to a straightforward and transparent pay structure. The actual base salary will be determined by various individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, location, internal equity, as well as other objective business considerations. 

The annual base Pay Range for this position is $134,000 - $140,000 This range reflects our US national compensation (USN). Additional premium percentages may apply based on our tiered premium strategy. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. 

If hired, employees will be in an 'at-will position' and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
