We are seeking a Flight Test Logistics Specialist who is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and improving all logistical operations in support of ground and flight test operations across all programs at Zone 5 Technologies. This role develops and owns equipment transportation coordination, pack-out strategies, readiness management, and leads cross-functional coordination to ensure operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Logistics Operations
- Develop and own the transportation logistics for flight test equipment.
- Own and continuously improve the pack-out process for flight test deployments, including toolkits, ground support equipment (GSE), and consumables
- Manage the inventory, procurement, and deployment of visual data collection tools (e.g., cameras, mounts, SD cards)
- Develop logistics support plans and transportation strategies to ensure secure and efficient movement of test equipment and aircraft assets
- Lead site layout planning for ground test and flight events, including equipment staging, safety zones, and power/tool access
- Develop and maintain an integrated test schedule that aligns all teams’ activities and supports effective logistics coordination
Asset Readiness & Maintenance Oversight
- Oversee the service schedule and functional readiness of flight test support vehicles (e.g., trucks and trailers)
- Coordinate or delegate preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs for test support assets
- Define standards and maintain documentation for vehicle upkeep and trailer loading best practices
Cross-Functional Communication
- Act as the liaison between Logistics Operations, Flight Test Engineering, and Technical Operations to ensure test readiness
- Provide final sign-off for field logistics readiness before aircraft handoff to Mission or Flight Test Operations
Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain process documentation (pack-out guides, logistics plans, checklists)
Identify areas for increased efficiency and safety in transport, setup, and support workflows
- Contribute to budget planning and tool procurement strategies in coordination with department leadership
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years in aerospace logistics, flight test support, or technical field operations
- Strong operational planning, coordination, and communication skills
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and prioritize tasks under time-sensitive conditions
- Familiarity with unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), GSE, and flight safety protocols
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or operations-related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Must be able to travel to field sites and lift/move equipment as needed
- US Citizen
Pay range for this role
$90,000 - $145,000 USD
