The Learning Development Specialist designs, develops, and implements training programs and learning initiatives that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. This role partners with department stakeholders to identify learning needs and creates engaging educational experiences that support organizational goals and employee development.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Training Design & Development 

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and learning opportunities across the organization 
  • Design and develop training materials including instructor-led courses, e-learning modules, job aids, and reference guides 
  • Create engaging learning content using instructional design principles and adult learning theory 
  • Develop assessment tools to measure learning effectiveness and knowledge retention 

 

Program Implementation & Delivery 

  • Facilitate training sessions both in-person and virtually for diverse audiences 
  • Coordinate logistics for training programs including scheduling, materials preparation, and vendor management 
  • Manage the learning management system (LMS) and ensure content is accessible and up-to-date 
  • Deliver onboarding programs for new employees 

 

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Measure training effectiveness through evaluations, assessments, and performance metrics 
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in learning programs 
  • Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to refine training content 
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging learning technologies 

 

Stakeholder Collaboration 

  • Partner with department leaders to understand business needs and align training initiatives 
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop technical and specialized training content 
  • Communicate training opportunities and promote a culture of continuous learning 
  • Provide consultation on employee development planning 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in learning and development, training design, or instructional design roles 
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective training programs that meet business objectives 
  • Hands-on experience applying instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) and adult learning principles in real-world settings 
  • Practical experience using learning management systems and e-learning authoring tools (Articulate, Captivate, or similar platforms) 
  • Track record of successfully facilitating training sessions for diverse audiences in various formats 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating training materials, course designs, or learning solutions developed 
  • Proven ability to conduct needs assessments and translate business requirements into learning solutions 
  • Experience managing multiple training projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities demonstrated through previous work 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Business, or related field 
  • Professional certifications (CPTD, CPLP, ATD certifications) 
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems. 
  • Familiarity with learning analytics and data visualization tools 
  • Experience designing virtual/hybrid learning experiences 
  • Background in a specific industry relevant to the organization

Work Environment: Typically, office-based with periods of time on the production floor learning or documenting process steps for training. May require occasional travel for training delivery or conferences.

Pay range for this role

$89,000 - $110,000 USD
