Software Development Engineer in Test I (SDET I)

Overview:

We are seeking a hardworking and skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our dynamic team dedicated to crafting exceptional video game experiences. As an SDET I, you will play a meaningful role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our video game products through comprehensive testing methodologies and automation frameworks. You will collaborate closely with game developers, QA testers, and other multi-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that delights our players.

Responsibilities:

●      Manual Testing: Conduct manual testing as needed, daily playthroughs, exploring different game scenarios, features, and functionalities to identify bugs, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.

●      Regression Testing: Implement and complete regression testing procedures to verify the stability and performance of game builds across various platforms and environments.

●      Defect Management: Document, track, and prioritize defects using bug tracking systems, and work closely with developers to ensure timely resolution and validation of reported issues.

●      Automated Testing: Develop and maintain automated test suites, harnesses, and frameworks using industry-standard tools and programming languages to ensure efficient and effective testing coverage.

●      Performance Testing: Design, complete, and analyze performance tests to identify bottlenecks, optimize game performance, supervise health, and enhance overall player experience.

●      Test Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and design comprehensive test plans and strategies for video game software products.

●      Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Integrate testing processes into CI/CD pipelines to facilitate the automated deployment of game builds while maintaining quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.

●      Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams, including developers, designers, artists, and QA testers, to communicate testing progress, findings, and recommendations.

●      Documentation: Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test cases, test scenarios, and test reports, to ensure comprehensive coverage and traceability of testing activities.

●      Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in video game development and quality assurance, and propose innovative solutions to enhance testing processes and methodologies.

Qualifications:

●      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

●      Strong sports knowledge.

●      Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, or Python.

●      Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and guidelines.

●      Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Unity Test Framework, Unreal Automation System, or Selenium.

●      Knowledge of game development engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and related tools.

●      Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and CI/CD pipelines.

●      Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

●      Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

●      Passion for video games and a keen eye for detail in gameplay, graphics, and overall player experience.

●      Experience in the video game industry or with game development projects is a plus.

The pay range for this position in British Columbia at the start of employment is expected to be between $51,400 and $76,060 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program.
