What We Need

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled technical craftsperson to join our team as a Scan Technician. The ideal candidate has rock-solid technical production experience, especially working with small teams and being self-reliant. Strong proficiency with troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues are essential. We scan across the country in all climate zones throughout the year, and the only constant is that successful data acquisition is the imperative. We partner closely with top-tier industry talent, requiring our team to build immediate rapport and maintain a highly supportive environment. Our ideal candidate brings a sincere, welcoming attitude alongside elite talent direction capabilities to ensure a seamless experience.

This is temporary position for 12 months that will require you to work onsite in our San Rafael, California office location with the occasional on the road travel. This role does not offer relocation assistance. 

What You’ll Do

  • Work directly with Talent and lead them through a series of developer-specific facial expressions while achieving the highest-quality data based on developers' standards and expectations.
  • Manage data acquisition for performance capture and 3D facial/body scanning shoots.
  • Calibrate and set up camera rigs and mobile capture systems.
  • Work with Shoot Producer and crew to coordinate on-schedule arrival, set up, shoot, and breakdown.
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times as a face of the company.
  • Manage the training, development, and skill growth of junior technicians and contractors.
  • Supervise the research and development of new scanning technologies and implement into builds.
  • Design camera rigs and mobile capture systems.
  • Coordinate with scan/art/production teams and clients for best practices with scanning and data processing.

What Will Make You A Great Fit

  • 3+ years’ experience working in a technical entertainment field.
  • Regular out-of-state travel (typically, 1 week per month).
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs.)
  • Strong personal and on-the-spot creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines while setting a professional and collaborative tone.
  • Excellent communication skills, coordinating and working with multiple departments to achieve set goals.

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of photogrammetry software: CaptureGrid, Reality Capture.
  • At least 1 published AAA video game as 3D Scanning Technician/Motion Capture Technician.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $37.00 and $56.00 per hour. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.

Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program.
