Human Resources Coordinator

AccuWeather is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support the HR team in administrative, operational and task execution. This position will report to the Human Resources Director.

Position Summary

As an HR Coordinator, you’ll play an essential role in supporting purpose-driven HR initiatives that have a direct impact on our workforce. This entry-level position will work onsite at AccuWeather's Headquarters in State College, Pennsylvania.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist with internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests, ensuring they align with the broader HR strategy.
  • Maintain both digital and hard copies of employee records while proactively identifying opportunities to improve data management processes.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by managing background checks, conducting reference checks, and maintaining recruitment metrics, with a focus on continuous improvement in the recruitment strategy.
  • Assist in the performance management process, helping to streamline and enhance evaluation procedures in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Take a proactive approach to organizing and scheduling meetings, training sessions, and HR events, ensuring they contribute to the company’s talent development strategies.
  • Help organize and coordinate training sessions and seminars, ensuring they are aligned with workforce development and strategic talent management goals.
  • Lead new hire orientations and onboarding, continuously seeking ways to enhance the onboarding experience for improved employee engagement and retention.
  • Produce and submit HR activity reports, using data to identify trends and inform future strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with ad-hoc HR projects, gaining experience in strategic HR initiatives like talent management and workforce planning.
  • Work collaboratively with HR and other departments to ensure alignment of HR processes with broader organizational strategies.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HR best practices and trends, applying this knowledge to contribute to the team’s strategic goals.
  • Regular HR/People Analytics metric updates using data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making across the organization. Collaborate with HR leadership to identify trends and recommend actionable improvements that enhance talent management, employee engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Adapt to evolving HR needs by taking on additional responsibilities and special projects. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and support strategic HR goals, ensuring flexibility and continuous development in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, with a strong foundation in HR principles and practices.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an HR support role or internship, with a focus on learning and contributing to HR strategy.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data management, with the ability to analyze and present HR data to support decision-making.
  • Familiarity with Labor Law and employment equity regulations, and a desire to deepen knowledge in HR compliance.
  • Strong HR administration skills, with a focus on supporting employee lifecycle processes and contributing to a positive employee experience.
  • Exposure to payroll practices and HRIS systems is a plus, with a willingness to grow technical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels.
  • Team-oriented and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced environment and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Tech-savvy and resourceful, with proficiency in MS Office and a passion for leveraging technology to improve HR processes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a strategic mindset for meeting deadlines and contributing to HR initiatives
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Growth mindset, eager to stay updated on the latest HR trends and best practices while continually developing professionally.
