
Leadership Gifts Associate
ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Leadership Gifts Associate in the Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Leadership Gifts, the Leadership Gifts Associate provides fundraising, research, and administrative support to the Leadership Gifts team.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Work in close partnership with and support Leadership Gifts fundraisers and the Deputy Director of Leadership Gifts.
- Maintain and enter donor-related communications and data to our CRM
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, data hygiene, financial and pledge reporting & timely gift processing
- Assist in the preparation of donor strategy briefing papers, funding proposals, reports, and talking points
- Edit and send gift acknowledgement letters as well as assist with other donor stewardship documentation and communication
- Support and contribute to the unit’s business processes, including managing donor database records, moves management, performance reporting, coordinating solicitation resources, scheduling meetings, and administering budget and expense reports
- Conduct research on donor and prospects regarding gift capacity and inclination, and make recommendations for portfolio assignment
- Draft, edit, and proofread donor communications, and maintain working knowledge of relevant ACLU issue areas and activities
- Provide production support for donor meetings, small group events, and donor communications
- Manage staff travel, including coordination and prioritization of ACLU national and affiliate for donor visits
- Handle special projects and other duties as assigned

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the organization to donors as well as interface with all levels of staff and volunteers while maintaining tact, diplomacy and confidentiality
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects; superior attention to detail with strong follow-through
- Strong communication, writing, proofreading, and editing skills
- Ability to apply sound judgment to share information internally and externally, and serve as a resource for others
- Ability to proactively contribute to assigned as well as unassigned tasks and projects, and work independently and with others to identify and solve problems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of, or desire to learn about, the major gift fundraising field
- Familiarity with office software and fundraising databases
- Experience working at complex, fast-paced national or international nonprofits
