About the Role
At Advanced Space, we're enabling humanity's return to the Moon and building the technologies that will take us to Mars and beyond. We're looking for a 2027 Software Engineering Summer Intern to join our software engineering team and gain hands-on experience developing software solutions that support real space missions.
As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced technical staff who will provide mentorship and guidance throughout your internship. You'll contribute to projects involving spacecraft software, engineering tools, testing infrastructure, and software applications that support mission development and operations.
This internship is ideal for students who are passionate about software development, aerospace technology, and solving complex technical challenges. You'll have the opportunity to apply your programming skills while learning how software enables the future of space exploration.

What You'll Actually Do
Support software development projects.
Work alongside software engineers on summer projects focused on developing and improving software systems that support aerospace missions.
Build software solutions for space applications.
Contribute to projects such as:
- Onboard spacecraft software
- Machine learning applications
- 3D visualization tools
- Testing infrastructure
- Flight software development tools
Apply programming skills to real engineering challenges.
Use modern programming languages and software development practices to design, test, and improve software solutions.
Collaborate across engineering teams.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and support mission-focused projects.
Share your work and findings.
Present project results through technical reports, presentations, and discussions with members of the software engineering team.
Who Thrives Here
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- You have programming experience in Python, C++, or similar languages.
- You enjoy solving technical problems and working on complex engineering projects.
- You can collaborate effectively on cross-disciplinary teams.
- You have familiarity with Bash and Linux-based operating systems.
- You understand basic software development processes and workflows.
- You are curious, eager to learn, and excited about applying software to aerospace challenges.
