About UX at Adyen
Payments is a rapidly changing industry, and Adyen's UX organization is at the forefront of building the future of payments. We ensure that Adyen stays a leader and disruptor in the global payments industry by bringing the user (whether shopper or business) into the center of our product and business decision making. The UX organization is a multidisciplinary group that consists of Product Design, UX Research, UX Writing and UX Analytics.
About the team and role
Adyen is seeking an experienced Design Leader to join our Adyen UX team. You will grow, mentor, and coach a team of 6+ Product Designers who are responsible for Payments products. This area heavily focuses on how shoppers around the globe experience payments: from traditional POS terminals to more advanced mobile solutions and the realm of online payments provide a unique opportunity to have an impact on hundreds of businesses worldwide!
In your role, you will support each designer to perform at their highest potential, helping them get buy-in from different stakeholders (PMs, Tech Leads and Senior Leadership) and supporting them in their normal course of life.
What you’ll do:
- Lead, coach and manage a team of 6+ designers across a variety of product areas
- Collaborate together with other Design Leads on company wide initiatives
- Proactively partner together with Product and Tech to drive product strategy and operational improvements over various product streams.
- Help steer key strategic projects
- Influence product leaders to prioritize the user experience where it will have a lot of impact for the company
- Ensure the quality of UX work in the product area stays high and consistently raise the bar
- Empower your team members to succeed and grow
- Maintain strong relationships with many relevant stakeholders at Adyen, across product, development, commercial teams and operations
- Co-own the recruitment process for new UXers and actively source and maintain contact with talent in the community
Who you are:
- Demonstrable prior experience leading teams in the product design or user experience field
- Experienced in applying design and research skills to interface design for mobile devices, IoT or payment terminals (POS devices)
- Comfortable navigating the constraints/standards of designing for hardware
- Deeply versed in design trends across apps, desktop and mobile web, etc
- Passionate about Service Design and an advocate for User Research
- Champion for the voice of the customer and trends that are specific to each country (e.g. local payment methods)
- A natural coach and mentor: people trust your expertise and enjoy working with you
- Comfortable providing excellent feedback that strengthens the creative capacity of those around you in open, transparent, and clear ways
- Passion for and track record of inspiring, coaching, and mentoring team members to grow to their highest potential
