Technical Program Manager (Senior/Principal)

Technical Program Manager - Aerospike Database (Senior / Principal)

Aerospike is seeking a Program Manager (Senior / Principal) to help ensure ongoing success of our market-leading “core” database product. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Product Operations and Customer Support to manage complex initiatives related to the delivery of enhancements, as well as technical escalations from the most demanding data systems in the world.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, complex project and/or program management expertise, and has ideally interfaced directly with technically-demanding enterprise customers.

Reporting to the Director, Product Management, Aerospike Database, we’re looking for someone who cares deeply about software quality, software delivery, and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Predictable, cross-functional software delivery: Together with Engineering Management, facilitate smooth day-to-day execution of software delivery processes. Including cross-functional co-ordination of launches, prioritization and delivery of fixes, continuous communication of delivery plans to various stakeholders, and collaboration with Quality and Performance Engineering teams.

  • Continuous alignment between Product Management and Engineering: Together with peers in Product Management, understand the vision and specific requirements for each incremental release and ensure product expectations are satisfied at each stage of implementation and delivery.

  • Continuous betterment, driven by customers: Together with Customer Support and Sales Engineering, ensure the most difficult technical customer escalations are understood, prioritized, and tracked through to resolution or solved via reusable education.

  • Metrics and accountability: Together with Product Operations, understand targets related to improved software delivery; own the collection and reporting of relevant metrics and the implementation of relevant betterments.

  • Organizational transparency: Foster a culture of transparency by ensuring the clear communication of goals, progress, and outcomes to every person in the organization.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable success in having led large, multi-team, multi-country initiatives from inception to completion.

  • A deep history of involvement in software development systems and culture, including demonstrable examples of having improved the efficiency and/or predictability of software delivery.

  • Meaningful experience contributing to the operational success of large-scale distributed systems in mission-critical environments, with examples of process or culture betterments you implemented.

  • The level of this role is somewhat flexible. You should be adequately experienced to propose concrete recommendations to an experienced team, and prepared to lead the implementation of your recommendations on a day-to-day basis.
