Manufacturing Engineer I
Company & Mission:
Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) and now expanding into Tulsa, OK. Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.
AGILE is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who is responsible for delivering high quality hardware with stringent requirements through design, prototyping, development, and production. Aerospace experience is not required to be considered for this position.
This is an entry level position that would be an excellent fit for someone who has just graduated or is looking to make a career change. Careers that would lend themselves to success in this field would include: engineering school graduate; experienced team leader of machinists, assembly techs, mechanics, welders etc.; construction foreman; any position where you manage both a schedule and resources to deliver a product, specifying technical requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes for aerospace components, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with design engineering, operations, and quality assurance to translate design specifications into manufacturable products.
- Conduct process capability assessments and risk analyses to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation such as process instructions, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven methodologies to monitor and analyze manufacturing performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Support prototyping, development, and transition to production efforts.
- Champion initiatives related to automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Maintain a culture that values the input of technicians and machinists, ensuring their voices are heard in the design process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Desire to apply engineering principals and decision-making to solve manufacturing challenges.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) systems.
- Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to continuous process improvement and optimization.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in team settings.
- Familiarity with engineering mathematics (Trigonometry at a minimum)
- Openness to learning and receiving feedback and training in areas of expertise.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001.)
- Use of GD&T in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to gage and fixturing methodology.
- Development and deployment of automated manufacturing systems.
- Exposure to ERP/MRP.
- Familiarity with CAM software.
- Proven track record in high-rate manufacturing environments.
- Experience with hazardous materials and proper safeguards for handling and compliance.
- Programming knowledge (C, C++, Python, ladder logic, block programming etc.)

Salary range: $74,000-$92,000
