AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Aerojet Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

AGILE is headquartered in Durango, CO with a facility in Mount Pleasant, PA and growing presence in Tulsa, OK.  The CEO, CFO and CCO are based around Boulder, CO.

Agile Space Industries is seeking an Analyst Engineer in Durango, CO. The Analyst Engineer is a key member of the Agile team that will need to solve highly complex technical aerospace and mechanical engineering problems. This engineer will have ownership for predicting the performance and reliability of Agile's products by applying computational analysis and mathematical modeling. The ideal candidate for this role will have the technical experience and interest to perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis of Agile’s products, provide design feedback to propulsion engineers, interpret water flow and hot-fire test data and iterate to improve model accuracy, and analyze the performance of propulsion components and systems. Critical skillsets being sought after are heat transfer, fluid dynamics, rocket propulsion, solid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, and programming skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform computational fluid dynamics analysis of propulsion components and systems including injectors, cooling systems, combustion chambers and nozzles
  • Perform performance analysis of hypergolic engines based on test data and numerical analyses
  • Perform acoustic analysis of combustion chamber to design acoustic cavities to mitigate combustion instabilities.
  • Analyze test data to anchor and improve models. Propose design and/or process changes based on analysis and test data interpretation
  • Perform thermal and structural analysis of chemical rocket propulsion devices and systems
  • Conduct static, dynamic, and transient finite element analyses at the component and assembly levels
  • Utilize Solidworks CAD, ANSYS analysis tools, and Python programming
  • Prepare formal presentations and reports for customer communication and milestone reviews

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field
  • 2+ Years of experience working on computational analysis of components and systems
  • Interest in learning and expanding into new areas of analysis where prior experience is lacking
  • Proactive and detail-oriented mindset
  • Emerging organization and time management skills
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics and/or fluid system modeling for internal flows
  • Experience with thermal analysis in solids and conjugate heat transfer with fluid and solid domains
  • Experience analyzing propulsion component and system performance based on a combination of test data and numerical analysis.
  • Experience using ANSYS simulation software
  • Confident working through ambiguity and uncertainty across complex assignments

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with detailed finite element analysis of components and assemblies including but not limited to static structural, transient structural, random vibration, response spectrum, coupled thermal and structural, fatigue, and fracture analyses
  • Knowledge and experience in gas dynamics and high-speed flows
  • Experience with acoustic modeling using FEA and/or CFD
  • Experience working with and analyzing hypergolic propulsion systems
  • Experience analyzing additive manufacturing materials

Employment Type: Exempt 

Work Schedule: Full-Time 

Salary: $72,600-$113,000

The posted salary band reflects the compensation range for candidates located in Colorado, in compliance with Colorado state law. If you are located in another state, please contact HR to inquire about the applicable compensation band, as requirements may vary by jurisdiction.
