Senior Architect
A Snapshot
As a Senior Architect, responsible for Architecture and Master Planning on our sites from business as usual to hyperscale. You will report to the Senior Director of Architecture and work closely with the rest of the Customer Solutions, Design and Innovation team making your mark in a number of ways:
- You are the key individual for the production of site plans, building massing, form and conceptual exploration for proposed sites – from macro (1:5000) to micro (1:500) Master Planning
- You act as the Lead Architect and are responsible for successful briefing and collaboration with external design consultants - Architects, Landscape Architects, Statutory and Strategic Town Planners, Civil and Structural engineers and other specialist disciplines
- You act as a connecting bridge between the stakeholder teams within AirTrunk, especially the Customer Solutions, Design & Innovation, Development and Operations teams
- Using your critical thinking and strategic analytical mind, contribute to the evolution of the AirTrunk suite of products from
Your Day to Day
Master Planning
- Test plan ‘sweet-spot’ designs utilising a standardised kit of components and in both plan and 3D format to produce speculative presentation decks and initial phases of Design Development & Due Diligence (DD)
- Assist in the development of Basis-Of-Design BOD documents for projects based on an understanding of AirTrunk requirements and any discernible local conditions provided or understood at the time
- Initial ability to test the eligibility of proposed sites with a pre-DD understanding of the site constraints
- Maintain a dialogue about requirements for:
- Operations requirements for NOC* / SOC* / Staging / Store etc.(front of house facilities) using the existing Operations Matrix allowing initial planning of required spaces for individual buildings of a certain capacity vs full campus solutions
- Operations requirements for Facilities Management including schematic diagrams for initial sign-off involving rack delivery / pedestrian and vehicular movement around the site
- Technology requirements to achieve design sweet-spots with electrical & mechanical designs / infrastructure and overall spatial requirements
- Technology requirements for sweet-spot design of data halls as well as local code requirements for fire compartments
- Initial shell & rack layouts for both brownfield and greenfield sites
- Be present with Developments and Site Selection team at meetings with local authorities to represent the initial interests of the Technology team during the first stages of design
- Liaise with external authorities and interpret council development and planning controls for sites

Architecture and Design
- Assist in maintaining the Architectural, Civil and Structural Principal Project requirements PPR (Technical Requirement Sheets)
- Production of an Architectural Briefing Package per site and then manage the selected Architect, Planner, BCA, DDA Advisor, civil and structural engineers throughout to completion
- Production of standardised NOC and SOC layouts as a Basis of Design and then managing any diversions with Operations and Development teams
- Periodic review of projects currently in Design phase as the Architectural SME
- Review of tendered designs and finished interior design packages while maintaining consistency across all interior design of both data centres and AirTrunk offices by ensuring compliance to the current interior design guidelines
- Assist with graphic design for presentation decks as well as producing a consistency ‘Style-Guide’ for all graphics involving Site Plans / Floor plans / Elevations + Sections as well as any in-house renderings
Stakeholder Management
- During both master planning and site suitability testing, and throughout the generation of reference designs, maintain a connection between the stakeholder teams within AirTrunk, especially the Technology, Development and Operations teams
- Assess important milestones through the project land maintaining a constant dialogue during a project between teams
- Assess on-going architectural drawings and provide milestone points during the concept and design process to ensure that all teams have had input and discussion during the process
Innovation
- Contribute to the on-going technology innovation discussion with a focus on construction and design such as
- construction techniques
- materials / external cladding
- passive / environmental innovations
- data hall constraints – ceiling heights / layouts / sweet-spot designs
- Identify specific metrics for the Master Planning stage to assist in developing the sweet spot design working both autonomously and collaboratively
- Input into other areas of the business with architectural SME or career experience (planning, power, electrical, mechanical engineering, site selection)
Requirements
- Registered Architect (current & practicing within Singapore)
- You have 10+ years of experience in both architecture and design management
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Architecture or architectural engineering, is a plus
- You have experience working on innovative design solutions for complex projects, ideally for data centres or mission critical facilities
- Conversant in Building Construction Authority - Codes, Acts and Regulations
- You are well versed in MEP design and co-ordination thereof
- You are well versed in professional project management
- You are proficient in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD and other Autodesk products.
- You are incredibly flexible and forward-thinking as you have to be ready for a continuous change of directions
- You excel at communication; you can deliver effective presentations on data centre/mission critical operations to customers, peers and management
- You have the ability for foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams
- Able to reverse brief requirements and put together compelling return briefs
- You are willing and able to travel within the SEA region on a regular basis and to other APAC regions on occasion
- Ability to put together design programmes (create simple & at least review complex)
- Have delivered a project/s from end-to-end and understand the design and construction process well
Desirable Experience
- Understand and have run Development Applications as an Architect
-Understand and have significant scale project experience in Singapore and regionally (Malaysia, Hong Kong, etc)
- Data Centre design experience in region
- Complex project experience (services engineering intensive)
- Campus design and master planning
- New build (greenfield and brownfield) site planning experience
- Current Singapore national government (AGSVA Equivalent) security clearance
- Professional currency with Microsoft Suite of products
(Excel, Word, Project, Power point) - Have engaged sub-consultants & generated contractual documentation for execution
-General understanding of enterprise risk through contracting
