A Snapshot

As Senior Director, Legal – Operations, you will report to the Vice President, Legal, and work closely with the rest of the Legal team, making your mark in a number of ways:

  • Strategic planning and execution: develop and implement strategies to optimise legal team performance to deliver more for the business including through process improvements, new technologies and knowledge management
  • Legal operations: develop processes and procedures to support day-to day operations including supporting the legal team to improve records and contract management, approval workflows, record and track legal requests, manage invoices, budgets and external law firms and other consultants
  • Precedents and knowledge management: work with the business and legal team leaders to develop, implement and maintain a suite of precedents, playbooks and negotiation guides which meet business needs and allows the business to scale at speed
  • Learning & development: develop and implement a learning and development program for the legal team and for the business on legal risks, material contracts and regulatory compliance
  • Governance and risk management: work with legal team leaders and business teams to develop and implement strategies to mitigate and manage key legal risks under AirTrunk’s enterprise risk management framework
  • Regulatory compliance: work with legal team leaders to develop a regulatory compliance framework to monitor, operationalise and manage compliance with existing and new laws
  • Technology: lead the evaluation, selection and integration of legal technologies.

Your Day to Day

  • Assess, develop and implement processes and procedures to support matter management, knowledge management, document management and billing management
  • Create metrics and monitor progress to measure success against strategic plans
  • Identify potential workflow optimisations and develop process workflows between legal team and business partners
  • Working with lawyers in the legal team to develop precedents, playbooks, negotiation guides and other initiatives to ensure high quality of legal service
  • Build business self-help tools such as dashboards, toolkits, legal training, process flows to improve operational efficiencies
  • Working with legal team leaders to develop a learning and development program for legal team and business including identify training opportunities, facilitate education on best practice and help create department specific guidelines and policies
  • Develop expertise on legal tech and assessing tools which may include contract management, content and knowledge management, business process enhancement, document execution management
  • Create and manage websites and all knowledge management tools and processes
  • Partner with legal leadership and finance to develop and manage the legal annual operating plan and budgets
  • Manage new hire onboarding processes for the legal department
  • Coordinate team meetings by developing agenda with legal leadership, record notes and action items in each meeting, document and follow on actions between meetings
  • Provide input and support on global and regional initiatives and projects on an ad hoc basis
  • Manage a team of motivated professionals to deliver on legal operations initiatives as a team
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of AirTrunk’s operations, technologies and products/services.

Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and passed the bar/hold a license to practice law
  • 10+ years experience (in-house or private practice) in legal operations and/or knowledge management
  • Executive management experience, excellent people leadership and team management skills and proven track record of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results
  • Technology savvy: proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, DocuSign and other workflow applications
  • Experience with developing multi-jurisdictional policies and experience with legal risk and governance
  • In-house experience in a similar industry and experience across APAC would be highly regarded. Candidates from law firms with very strong generalist corporate experience, commercial astuteness and a desire to work closely with the business are encouraged to apply.
