Office Manager
Office Manager
Company Overview:
Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup founded by two ex-Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing a small, autonomous gun turret that employs advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely target and neutralize small drones and loitering munitions. Our innovative approach requires overcoming significant technical challenges, making this an exciting and dynamic environment for experienced engineers.
With an engineering-first culture, ACS values technical excellence and continuous learning. Backed by our founders' successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop have a real-world impact.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Office Manager to create a smooth, efficient, and energizing workplace for our team. You’ll be the operational backbone of our office, making sure everything runs seamlessly day to day while fostering a positive environment where our engineers can do their best work. This role is highly visible and impactful, with opportunities to build systems and culture from the ground up.
What You’ll Do:
- Champion Operational Excellence: Design and implement systems and workflows that reduce friction, improve communication, and streamline office operations.
- Create a Productive and Comfortable Environment: Ensure our office is a place where people feel empowered to do their best work, particularly our engineers.
- Lead Cultural and Engagement Initiatives: Keep team morale high and culture thriving with thoughtful events, perks, and processes.
- Be the Go-To Problem Solver: Whether it’s a logistical hiccup, a vendor miscommunication, or a process gap, you’ll be the one who steps in and figures it out.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in embedded AI, edge computing, and GPU computing.
Your Day-to-Day Tasks:
- Organize travel and relocation logistics for new and current employees
- Keep the office stocked, organized, and running smoothly, from snacks to supplies
- Coordinate daily lunches and occasional dinners
- Coordinate and manage office buildouts or expansions, working with contractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Onboard new in-person employees, setting them up with desks, equipment, and a welcoming environment
- Plan and execute monthly internal team events and external events to increase industry visibility and team cohesion
We are looking for someone who:
- Is proactive and resourceful; you anticipate problems rather than waiting for them to arise
- Is detail-oriented but also strategic; you think both in the weeds and about scale
- Has a hospitality mindset; you take pride in making others’ work life smoother and more enjoyable
- Thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and is excited by building things from scratch
- Enjoys supporting engineering teams (or technical teams) and removing operational obstacles so they can deliver their best work
- Has a positive, can-do attitude; you genuinely enjoy being helpful
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary
- ACS Equity Package
- Health, Dental, Vision Insurance
- Paid Time Off
