Senior Director, US Strategic Accounts
Overview
The Senior Director, US Strategic Accounts provides strategic leadership for Alnylam's Strategic Accounts Management organization, overseeing the strategy, development, and execution of account plans across priority health systems and organized customers. This role works with the VP, Strategic Accounts to set the direction & vision for the HSD team, partner across functions to deliver a "One Alnylam" experience, and drive strategic priorities and customer partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Leadership
- Guide the development and execution of account strategies, objectives, and KPIs aligned to organizational and brand priorities
- Serve as a thought leader and anticipate industry, market, and customer trends to inform long-term account strategy and organizational direction
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to deliver an integrated “One Alnylam” customer experience and maximize organizational impact
- Consult with partners on key industry trends & best practices to help solve complex and emerging challenges and opportunities by engaging with senior stakeholders
Team Leadership & Execution Excellence
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Health System Directors (HSDs) to achieve business objectives and customer impact
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, compliance, and continuous development
- Guide HSDs in building and sustaining executive-level customer relationships that improve strategic partnerships and mutually beneficial priorities
- Monitor account performance and business results, providing feedback, best practices, and direction to optimize and ensure consistent execution
SAM Program Development & Enterprise Leadership
- Partner with the Vice President, Strategic Accounts to advance Alnylam's Strategic Account Management (SAM) strategy, capabilities, and organizational effectiveness
- Lead change initiatives and capability-building efforts that strengthen competitive advantage and customer engagement
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure account, team, and program impact
- Support executive-to-executive ("Top-to-Top") customer engagements and strategic partnership initiatives
- Communicate the value and outcomes of Strategic Accounts through performance reporting, customer success stories, and business reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Science or Business discipline; Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD or Healthcare certification) desired
- Minimum 10 years of commercial leadership experience within the biopharmaceutical or life sciences industry
- Minimum 5 years of strategic account management experience working with IDNs and Health Systems; additional experience working with infusion providers or similar organized customers would be beneficial
- Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience, including coaching, developing, and leading high-performing teams
- Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives within a matrixed organization
- Strong understanding of the healthcare environment, including provider systems, payer dynamics, reimbursement, contracting, formulary management, and value-based care models
- Executive presence with the ability to influence and engage senior customer and internal stakeholders, including C-suite leaders
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Preferred
- Master’s degree: Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
- Experience in rare disease markets
- Active participation in relevant pharmaceutical, healthcare, or account management professional associations

The pay range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).

$238,000 - $322,000 USD
