Industrial Designer:
Early development of concept proposals for the Driving environment interior of a next generation highway and vocational truck. Generate design ideas and scenarios that will better serve the truck operators, based on research of the automotive, trucking and aeronautic industries. Concept creation of a wide range of elements in the interior space, including, but not limited to Instrument panel, Door panels, Steering wheel, Seats and Human machine interface (HMI) components, center and overhead consoles and storage units. Creation of a next generation form language distinctive between both brands, analyzing brand DNA and the brand’s vision of the future. Support of color material finish (CMF) strategies for the Driving and Living environments of current and in development projects. Creation of 3D concept models and proposals as part of an early faster development cycle. Oversee 3D CAD refinement of surfaces for different testing, evaluation, simulations and finite element analysis (FEA). Manage CAD development for 3D printing usable components for evaluation. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues (Draft angles, tolerances, flashing or die locks) on a variety of interior components while maintaining the aspect and desirable intent from the product design team. Translate technical input and ergonomic zones into feasible and aesthetically desired Design solutions Refine Design proposals into the sequential development loops along engineering and ergonomics teams. Work with cross functional teams (Engineering, Design, Ergonomics, User interface and marketing) to generate and carry out user experience clinics Support Global and local Design reviews with brand stakeholders to secure investment and support on the Product Design team development. Envision future interior and exterior proposals for the highway and vocational sector as the brand looks to vehicle electrification. Create ergonomic footprint conscious concept vehicle packages and layouts to improve the user experience. Develop and visualize through 2D renderings, animations and 3D modeling interior and exterior ideas for a refuse truck.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or Transport Designing with six (6) months’ experience. 40 hr/wk, $54,205/yr.
