
Mechanical Design Engineer - Chassis

- BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 1–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within the automotive industry.
- This position is focused on the design and development of chassis components including wheels, brakes, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.
- The role involves working closely with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers to deliver robust, manufacturable, and high-quality components throughout the product development lifecycle.
- This is a technical engineering role requiring strong CAD design expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple design activities in a fast-paced development environment.
- The engineer will play a key role in resolving technical challenges, supporting validation activities, and ensuring components meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
- Experience in automotive design, particularly in chassis systems, and proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA V6 are essential.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability and basic CAE result interpretation is highly valued.

Chassis Design & Development
-
Design and develop chassis components (wheels, brakes, fuel systems, exhaust, etc.) using CAD tools
-
Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings with full GD&T application

Ensure robust modeling practices to support design changes and revisions
-
Collaborate with design and test engineers to validate component performance and functionality
-
Support design reviews and contribute to continuous product improvement

Technical Problem Solving & Validation
-
Analyze and resolve technical issues related to component design and integration
-
Interpret and utilize CAE results (stiffness, vibration, natural frequency, etc.) to support design decisions
-
Propose and implement design modifications based on test results and validation feedback

Ensure compliance with engineering standards and performance requirements

Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with suppliers to define technical requirements and evaluate design proposals

Support sourcing activities by reviewing supplier feasibility and technical capabilities

Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and program teams to ensure smooth development and industrialization

Participate in issue resolution related to part quality, fitment, and performance

Project Coordination & Execution

Manage multiple design projects and ensure alignment with development timelines

Support program milestones and deliverables throughout the product lifecycle

Provide regular updates on design progress, risks, and technical issues

Ensure timely release of drawings and engineering documentation

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and design records

Communicate test results, design changes, and technical decisions clearly to stakeholders

Ensure proper documentation of lessons learned and design improvements

Detail-oriented mechanical design engineer with a strong technical foundation and problem-solving mindset

Ability to manage multiple design activities while maintaining high quality and accuracy
-
Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and interfacing with suppliers
-
Strong ownership with the ability to take initiative and drive technical decisions with moderate supervision
-
Adaptable and eager to learn new tools, standards, and methodologies
-
Effective communicator capable of translating complex technical topics to diverse stakeholders
-
2–5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in automotive
-
Strong proficiency in CATIA V6

Experience in 3D modeling (solid and surface) and 2D drawings with GD&T
-
Knowledge of chassis components (brakes, wheels, exhaust, fuel systems, etc.)

Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) principles

Ability to analyze and interpret basic CAE results
-
Experience working with suppliers on technical topics

Strong multitasking and project management skills
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
-
Previous experience in chassis design within automotive OEM or Tier 1
-
Familiarity with PLM tools such as Teamcenter or Windchill
-
Experience with engineering change management processes (ECR / ECN)

Exposure to validation and testing environments

Knowledge of automotive standards and development processes
