What You Will Contribute To Altos

The Altos Scientific and Enterprise IT Team is seeking a people-focused IT site lead, to manage our IT initiatives at our Cambridge, UK location. As an IT team lead, you will oversee a local team of IT professionals responsible for managing many aspects of the Altos enterprise and corporate IT presence, with a specific focus on helpdesk and deskside support, audio/visual systems, and corporate networks. In this role, you will work closely with the global Altos IT leadership to drive a customer-first culture plus collaborate with local leadership to provide site-specific best practices and processes. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and experience driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

You and the team will collaborate across Altos corporate and scientific functions to deliver IT services to the Altos organization, including:

  • Helpdesk and Deskside Support: Provide oversight to the local team providing helpdesk and deskside support, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues for end-users.
  • Audio/Visual Systems: Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of local audio/visual systems, including conference rooms, video conferencing equipment, and multimedia technology. Ensure optimal performance and user experience for meetings and presentations.
  • Corporate Network: Oversee team maintaining the corporate network infrastructure within Cambridge, including LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems. Ensure network security, availability, and performance through effective monitoring and proactive maintenance.
  • Planning, Communication, and Risk Management: Collaborate with local leadership for effective IT planning and communications, including outage planning and remediation, site-wide communications, and risk management to minimize user-impacting outages.
  • IT Policies and Procedures: Collaborate with the global IT team to develop and promulgate IT policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry best practices, security protocols, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and maintain IT knowledge base documentation like user tutorials, and standard operating procedures.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant experience. Experience in early-stage companies or life sciences research environments is a plus.
  • IT operations roles with hands-on experience in many functional aspects - Help Desk operations (service level agreements for customer satisfaction), enterprise and SaaS application management, and audio/visual system management
  • Knowledge of best practices, and emerging technologies in IT architecture, IT security, ITIL and IT governance
  • Demonstrated experience influencing teams and driving a high-performance, user-first culture.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Hands-on laptop/hardware Mac and Windows troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the following applications
    • FreshService, Okta, Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom
  • Apple Certified Support Professional certification or equivalent
  • Experience with a scripting language, such as bash, SQL, Python, or Powershell
  • Experience with wireless network configuration, specifically in Cisco Meraki environments
  • Proficiency in configuring and administering popular mobile device management environments, such as Jamf, Google MDM, Automox.
  • Experience or familiarity with Zoom and Zoom Rooms.

 

The salary range for Cambridge, UK:

  • Senior IT Operations Specialist: £52,700 - £71,300

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
