Assistant Controller
Amca is building America’s new industrial base. Since the 1990s, our ability to build new aviation and military systems and maintain the ones we already have has eroded. Today, the gap between what the nation needs to produce and what it is capable of producing is the largest it has been in generations.
To help close that gap, Amca rapidly develops and manufactures new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. Today, we operate seven factories nationwide, including our advanced prototyping and testing headquarters in El Segundo, and deliver avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms such as the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, A321, Mk-48, and M1 Abrams.
Overview:
You will transform our recently acquired entities into a unified, audit-ready consolidated organization. Your primary function is to move beyond bookkeeping and institutionalize technical accounting excellence and robust internal controls. You will build the financial foundation of a rapidly scaling aerospace company from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
-
Own technical accounting and financial reporting
- Lead Purchase Price Allocation accounting for recent acquisitions; manage fair value adjustments, scoping exercises, and ongoing updates to the opening balance sheet

- Manage setup and ongoing administration of share-based compensation
- Lead retrospective adoption and update of ASC 842 (Leases)
-
Build the foundational infrastructure
- Conduct process walkthroughs across all accounting cycles to identify gaps, then build SOPs and templates
- Design and implement standardized reconciliation and month-end close templates for the global team
- Lead a retrospective cleanup of GL coding to ensure consistency across the parent company and all four subsidiaries
-
Run close management and operations
- Oversee the monthly consolidation process and deliver high-level flux analysis that explains the "why" behind the numbers
- Act as the critical reviewer for all work performed by offshore accounting teams, ensuring accuracy across AP, PPE/fixed assets, and prepaid accounts
- Assist with working capital tracking and NWC adjustments post-acquisition
-
Drive audit readiness and compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Ensure the organization is continuously audit-ready as it scales
Qualifications:
- 7–9+ years of experience, ideally starting in Big 4 public accounting (audit or advisory) with subsequent experience in a high-growth startup or PE/VC-backed environment
- Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 805, 842, 606, and 718
- Proven track record of building processes and controls where none previously existed; comfortable operating in ambiguity
- Analytical and rigorous. You don't just complete reconciliations, you use them to surface business insights and risk
