Accounting Manager
Amca is building America’s new industrial base. Since the 1990s, our ability to build new aviation and military systems and maintain the ones we already have has eroded. Today, the gap between what the nation needs to produce and what it is capable of producing is the largest it has been in generations.
To help close that gap, Amca rapidly develops and manufactures new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. Today, we operate seven factories nationwide, including our advanced prototyping and testing headquarters in El Segundo, and deliver avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms such as the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, A321, Mk-48, and M1 Abrams.
Overview:
You will lead the day-to-day execution of Amca's month-end close and financial operations. As we integrate recently acquired businesses, you will be the primary driver ensuring our team delivers high-quality work and that our internal records are accurate, reconciled, and ready for our first-ever audit. This role offers direct exposure to technical accounting and business combinations in a high-growth aerospace environment.
Responsibilities:
-
Own month-end close execution and review
- Drive the monthly close checklist to completion, ensuring all tasks — from bank reconciliations to equity rollforwards — are finalized on schedule
- Perform detailed reviews of work completed by on- and offshore teams, with particular focus on AP, prepaids, fixed asset depreciation, and intercompany reconciliations
- Prepare flux analysis at the subsidiary and consolidated levels to explain monthly variances across the P&L and balance sheet
-
Lead cleanup and standardization
- Execute a retrospective cleanup of GL coding across all acquired entities to establish a unified chart of accounts
- Build and own standard templates for all recurring reconciliations, ensuring they meet audit-ready standards
- Document existing processes for AP, payroll, and fixed assets; identify weaknesses and implement step-change improvements
-
Run core accounting operations
- Maintain the fixed asset register and lease accounting schedules (ASC 842), including monthly amortization and rollforwards
- Monitor working capital and cash positioning; perform AR reviews and manage deposit liability amortization
- Coordinate with external tax partners to ensure all compliance filings are tracked and supported by accurate GL data
-
Drive audit readiness
- Implement and enforce strict cut-off procedures across all entities
- Ensure every journal entry carries a clear audit trail, including supporting schedules and memos for non-routine adjustments
Qualifications:
- 5–7 years of accounting experience; a mix of Big 4 or national firm audit and private industry is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to apply it to everyday transactions including prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets
- Proactive communicator with the ability to manage and mentor offshore staff, providing clear feedback and direction
- Detail-oriented and process-driven; comfortable building structure where little exists
- Independent and direct; thrives with ownership and minimal oversight
