INTERIORS COORDINATOR

APPARATUS is a New York-based design studio that explores the relationship of lighting, furniture, and objects in immersive environments, threading the historical and the cultural through a modern lens.

An Interiors Coordinator works within the APPARATUS Interiors team across multiple categories of built environments, moving deftly between the ephemeral and long term.  This includes maintenance of gallery visual standards, facilities projects and assistance with brand project scopes of new galleries, exhibition, set design and events. The Interiors department is led by the VP Interiors and managed by the Director of Interiors with oversight of all Interiors Coordinator works assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute daily gallery checks and adjustments to meet visual and operational standards. This includes weather related maintenance, logging and scheduling repairs of found gallery damages, moving rugs, furniture and objects, etc. to APPARATUS guidelines, etc.
  • Assist with facilities works to monitor overall building functions. This includes coordination when required with outside contractors and internal building superintendent under the direction of Interiors team leadership.
  • Support Interiors and Product project initiatives, when needed with hands-on installation work. This includes lighting, decorative furnishings, upholstery, artwork, accessories, and drapery. Assist with mock ups, off-site fabrication and site delivery.
  • Assist Brand team on event set ups in APPARATUS gallery spaces and off-site locations. This includes build and breakdown of small event furnishings and decoration, as well as resetting Gallery after events.
  • Provide onsite and CAD assistance when appropriate to support Interiors initiatives. This includes site surveys, drawing sets, templates for mock-ups and sketches when required.
  • Aid cross-departmental teams with deliveries and heavy-lifting as needed.

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite.
  • Familiarity and experience with a suite of Interior Design skills such as material sourcing, drawing, and visualization.
  • Skills including light carpentry, painting, electrical knowledge, basic knowledge of mechanical systems functions.
  • Strong aesthetic and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills with accountability and follow-through.
  • Ability to work across multiple concurrent APPARATUS projects.
  • Excellent time-management skills, to work under pressure and deliver projects under tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinking with the ability to foresee problems and vocalize solutions.
  • Ability to respond professionally to critical feedback and be proactive in seeking support when required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
  • Introductory professional working experience in high-end interior design, set design, fabrication or shop experience.
  • Experience in a business that requires a team to execute the common vision, understands the value of the individual and the team.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Position is based in the APPARATUS New York studio and is not remote.
  • Full-time studio hours: Monday-Friday generally 10:00AM – 6:00PM.
  • Longer hours and weekend availability as needed. Possible travel opportunities to support Installations.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW

  • Annual performance review.

Salary from $60,000
