About AppDirect

Become a digital, global citizen and enable the new generation of digital entrepreneurs around the world. AppDirect offers a subscription commerce platform to sell any product, through any channel, on any device - as a service. We power millions of subscriptions worldwide for organizations. We do this by our values-driven culture—one that enables you to Be Seen, Be Yourself, and Do Your Best Work.

About the Cloud Platform Team

Our mission is to scale DevOps culture at AppDirect by making our core cloud providers—AWS & Azure—accessible through a seamless, integrated self-service Cloud Platform. We treat the platform as a product: DevOps practitioners across teams leverage our fully automated Terraform and Ansible Infrastructure-as-Code pipelines, golden paths, and self-service workflows to go to market. This platform ensures a reliable and secure process (ISO 27001, PCI, SOC2 compliant), tailored to the AppDirect Marketplace product, Devs.ai and onboarding new mergers and acquisitions. Our platform engineering strategy is a key enabler—allowing newly acquired teams to onboard seamlessly onto our infrastructure and ship with confidence from day one. As the platform engineering discipline enters its AI-native era, we are building AI-assisted developer experiences, MCP-connected tooling, and policy, cost, and security guardrails enforced at provisioning time—to reduce developer cognitive load, ensure that the fastest path is secure by design, and accelerate the pace at which the company can integrate and scale new acquisitions.

About You

You are a senior cloud platform developer with deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code and multi-cloud environments, and you're energized by building self-service tools that other engineering teams genuinely want to use. You think of platforms as products—you track how developers experience your work, respond to usage signals, and iterate accordingly. You're equally comfortable writing production-ready Terraform modules and engaging with a development team to help them adopt them. You bring hands-on experience hardening distributed systems and embedding security and cost guardrails directly into provisioning pipelines. You are curious about how AI-assisted tooling—such as MCP-connected agents or IDE assistants—can reduce cognitive load and accelerate delivery, and you're ready to build those capabilities, not just consume them. You have strong communication skills and you work well within a globally distributed team, and you mentor peers by sharing debugging techniques and platform best practices in ways that scale your impact.

What you'll do and how you'll have an impact

  • Configure and extend multi-cloud, multi-region, multi-tenant infrastructure using Terraform Cloud and Ansible automation pipelines.
  • Design and maintain reusable IaC modules, and work directly with engineering teams to drive their adoption across the organization.
  • Build AI-assisted, guardrailed self-service workflows—including MCP servers and policy/cost validation—that make the secure path the default path.
  • Embed FinOps and security guardrails (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI) into the provisioning layer so compliance is validated at design time, not after deployment.
  • Support the onboarding of newly acquired teams onto the Cloud Platform so they can ship confidently from day one.
  • Use observability tools such as Datadog to diagnose issues in complex distributed systems and lead incident response when needed.
  • Participate in our DevOps Guild, training DevOps Champions on platform capabilities and maintaining documentation for both human users and AI agents.
  • Provide on-call support on rotation to maintain cloud infrastructure health.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge, including debugging techniques and platform best practices.
  • Administer and optimize Cloudflare services and DNS architecture across providers (Route53, Cloudflare, GoDaddy), supporting domain and edge-related migration projects with minimal downtime and robust rollback planning.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure or platform development roles.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible (or comparable tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Salt), including writing complex automation and enabling others to adopt it.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on AWS or Azure or GCP, with an understanding of performance optimization and cost management.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently secure and harden cloud infrastructure in compliance-driven environments.
  • Solid foundation in networking, operating systems, databases, and service configuration in a microservices context.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source code management workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
  • Comprehensive experience managing DNS, domain lifecycles, and traffic routing across providers like Cloudflare (DNS, proxying, SSL/TLS, WAF, edge services), AWS Route53, or GoDaddy.
  • Strong written communication skills in English, because you'll coordinate technical decisions across globally distributed teams and present platform strategy to senior stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, because this role requires you to treat usage metrics and support requests as feedback signals and act on them to make the platform measurably better over time.
  • Understanding of containerization platforms like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is nice to have.
  • Strong experience with Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines and corresponding tools (e.g., ArgoCD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)  is nice to have.
  • Experience in writing and testing code in at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript, Golang) is nice to have.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and debugging abilities for complex applications in Java, Node.js, or Golang, and ability to train others in debugging techniques is nice to have.
  • Experience building AI-native platform capabilities—Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, or AI-assisted incident response and runbooks is nice to have.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and policy-as-code for cost and compliance guardrails is nice to have.

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
