The SPEAR Team (Strategic Presales Execution and Readiness) is the operational engine behind Appian's global Presales organization -- the team that builds the tools, assets, governance, and infrastructure that let Solutions Consultants do their best work. As a Demo Engineer on SPEAR, you are not on the sidelines of SC 2.0 -- you are one of the people making it possible at scale.
The Role
Behind every great demo is a great demo asset, and that's where you come in. As a Demo Engineer on Appian's SPEAR Team in Chennai, you are the technical backbone that turns one-off sales demos into a polished, reusable, continuously evolving library that powers hundreds of sales engagements each year. While our Solutions Consultants are out in the field telling stories and co-creating with customers, you ensure they always have the right asset, in the right shape, ready to go.
In this role, you'll capture, refine, and expand Appian product demos -- de-branding prospect-specific work, modernizing older assets with the latest platform capabilities, and packaging everything into reusable demos, clickable demo experiences, walkthrough videos, and scripts. You'll also contribute directly to DemoHub, Appian's centralized demo catalog and governance system -- helping evolve the application itself, not just the content inside it.
You will be coached and guided by the Lead Demo Engineer based in Chennai, reporting to the SPEAR Team leadership in the US -- giving you both strong local support and direct visibility into Appian's global Presales strategy.

What you'll be doing...

Demo Ingestion and Cataloging: Capture product demos developed during live sales engagements and ingest them into DemoHub, ensuring they are organized, tagged, discoverable, and reusable across the global Solutions Consulting organization.

De-branding and Refinement: De-brand prospect-specific demos, clean up their design and functionality, and prepare them for broader organizational use -- turning one-off assets into reusable gold.

Demo Enhancement: Refresh and extend existing demos by incorporating advanced new Appian features and functionality, keeping the library current with the latest product releases, GTM narratives, and industry trends.

DemoHub Application Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the DemoHub Appian application itself -- the platform that stores, governs, and surfaces demo content to the global SC team. This includes building new features, fixing bugs, and improving usability.

Clickable Demo Production: Record, edit, and continually update interactive clickable demos in a commercial third-party demo platform, ensuring our self-service and accelerated demo experiences stay accurate, on-brand, and aligned with current product capabilities.

Demo Artifact Creation: Produce supporting artifacts including walkthrough videos, demo scripts, talk tracks, and quick-reference guides that help SCs adopt and adapt assets quickly.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Solutions Consultants worldwide, the SPEAR Team, and other Presales stakeholders to ensure demo assets reflect the latest go-to-market priorities and customer outcomes.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline demo ingestion, cataloging, and maintenance workflows, and help bring those ideas to life.

Additional SPEAR Initiatives: Contribute to other Presales enablement and readiness initiatives as the SPEAR Team's portfolio evolves.
Who you are...

Strong experience with Appian or a similar low-code application development platform, including design, development, and debugging of applications.

Excellent technical and programming skills are a must, with concrete examples of times you have applied them to deliver polished work.

Attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality output -- the kind that other people see and immediately want to copy.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-volume, dynamic environment (think hundreds of demos per year flowing through your pipeline).

Comfortable working on a cross-functional team and collaborating with global stakeholders across multiple time zones. Solid verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills are a must.

Familiarity with interactive demo platforms (Storylane, Reprise, Navattic, Walnut, or similar) is a strong plus.

Familiarity with video recording and editing tools for producing walkthrough content is a plus.

Self-motivated, highly driven individual with a strong sense of urgency.

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Math, Physics, or equivalent work experience.
