Project Engineer, Propeller
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. Archer Aviation is seeking a highly motivated, energetic project engineer to join our team in revolutionizing the aviation industry. In this position on the propeller team the candidate will ensure technical requirements for the prop systems are being met while also keeping the team on track with schedule and budget. The candidate should have a strong background in propeller or rotor systems as well as experience in project leadership and in the entire lifecycle of aircraft dynamic systems.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define scope for propeller related activities, including deliverables and key milestones
- Serve as technical point of contact between propeller team and suppliers
- Manage communication and data exchange between Archer propeller team and other subsystems of the aircraft
- Ensure technical objectives and requirements of the propellers are met during development, testing, and production
- Work with program management to ensure alignment of schedule and cost with company objectives
- Report progress on propeller activities via design reviews, reports, and technical meetings
- Lead investigations and root cause analysis for technical issues that may arise
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in a technical industry, with a minimum of 3 years experience in technical leadership or project management
- Understanding of each phase of the product lifecycle of an aircraft
- Working knowledge of engineering principles and disciplines related to propellers
- Track record of managing engineering projects
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferred:
- Master’s or PhD in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- 20+ years of experience in a technical industry, with a minimum of 7 years experience in technical leadership or project management
- Excellent understanding of scheduling, budgets, and resource management
- Experience with Earned Value Management and Agile methods
- Familiarity with MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheets
- Experience with FAA certification on aircraft programs
This position will require travel up to 35% to Archer facilities or supplier facilities.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $151,680 - $189,600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
