Junior AI Engineer (m/f/d)

Artefact, a global AI and data consulting company with rapid growth, is looking for a curious and motivated Junior AI Engineer (m/f/d) to join our tech team full-time. Are you ready to grow with us?

As a Junior AI Engineer, you'll contribute to building cutting-edge data and AI solutions in real client projects. You’ll work side by side with experienced data scientists, engineers, and consultants, learning how to turn the latest data and AI technologies into impactful, scalable products. Ideally, you are located in Munich or Berlin or nearby - but if you're based elsewhere in Germany and a great fit, we would still love to hear from you.

Your responsibilities:

Learn & grow.
You’ll be part of a supportive team that helps you ramp up quickly on AI concepts, tools, and real-world applications. You'll receive mentoring, training, and regular feedback.

Build.
You’ll contribute to the development and implementation of data and AI solutions - from prototyping and prompt design to integrating APIs and preparing data pipelines.

Collaborate.
You’ll work closely with your team and clients to understand needs, explore ideas, and test solutions – with guidance and clear responsibilities.

Explore.
You’ll stay updated on the latest data and AI tools and models and help assess how they can be used in practical ways for real use cases.

What you’ll gain:

• Hands-on experience working on 1-2 client projects per year across industries on data and AI use cases (e.g. LLM-based assistants, search, automation).
• Exposure to state-of-the-art tools like OpenAI APIs, LangChain, GCP Vertex AI, Hugging Face, and vector databases such as FAISS or Weaviate.
• A clear growth path into more senior roles, supported by internal training and external certifications.

Your mindset:

• Curious & eager to learn. You’re excited about data and AI and want to understand how to use it responsibly and effectively.
• Collaborative. You enjoy working with others, asking questions, and contributing to team outcomes.
• Solution-oriented. You like solving real problems and applying technology to create value.

Profile:

• Degree in computer science, machine learning, data engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: First practical experience (e.g. internship, student project, open source) with data and AI, machine learning, or software development.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Interest in data, LLMs, Prompt Engineering, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Bonus: Familiarity with ML libraries (e.g. Hugging Face, LangChain) or DevOps tools (e.g. Docker).
• Languages: Strong English skills; German is a plus.
• Work Eligibility: A valid work permit for Germany.
