Overview

Astera Labs Inc. is seeking a skilled and proactive Hardware Lab Assistant to join our dynamic hardware team in developing world class connectivity products.

 

Job Description

We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Hardware Lab Assistant to support our hardware lab during off-hour shifts. In this role, you will perform basic modifications to test setups, ensuring smooth transitions between tests left running by the day shift. Your responsibilities will include swapping cables, boards, and components, adjusting test parameters, and reinitializing setups for the next round of tests. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in hardware testing and development who is seeking part-time, flexible work hours.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Swap hardware components such as ASICs, cables, boards, or modules as needed for ongoing tests

· Adjust basic test configuration parameters following predefined instructions

· Restart or reconfigure test setups to initiate the next test cycle

· Monitor test progress and ensure equipment is functioning as expected

· Log test results, errors, or anomalies for review by the day shift team

· Organize lab equipment, consumables, and peripherals as well as tidy up the lab during downtime

· Provide clear, written handoffs to the day shift team about the status of tests and any issues encountered

 

Required Qualifications

· Basic understanding of hardware components such as cables, connectors, and PCBs

· Comfortable following detailed instructions for modifying test setups and procedures

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

· Dependable and punctual with excellent communication skills

· Comfortable asking questions, escalating issues, and addressing errors as needed

· Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word

· Ability to lift and move hardware components weighing up to 25 lbs

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Completed or Presently enrolled in an AS degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or similar educational program or trade school.

· Lab experience and/or familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., power supplies, multimeters, Oscilloscope)

· Experience working with computer components such as building a PC from scratch.

· Working knowledge of scripting in BASH or python. Coding experience a plus.

· Comfortable using the command line interface and Windows and Linux operating systems.
