The Position 

In support of our strategic initiatives, Knott Mechanical is seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead our Administrative Team. The Vice President of Finance will report to the CEO and be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

The Vice President of Finance position is located in Hunt Valley, MD and is responsible for developing and implementing financial and operational strategies that will increase revenue and optimize business processes. This role will develop and implement mission critical programs, and help to lead the growth of our business, the development of our people and ensure our long-term success. 

Responsibilities 

  • The role is very dynamic, including detailed transaction-oriented activities and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be able to operate well in a multitude of tasks and environments, from the most basic of transactions to a discussion with ownership about future strategic direction.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor Knott Mechanical’s operations (treasury, financial reporting, funding, payroll, procurement, financial systems, and internal control functions) to improve program execution, promote increased efficiency of operations and assure the appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Provide support and counsel to the CEO and Senior Leadership team regarding all financial activities and initiatives. Advise CEO on opportunities to enhance finance activities/processes and work closely with the team to drive initiatives. 
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulations, including the development of monthly cash-basis financial results and quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Work closely with the lending institution to ensure timely issuance of all bank related requirements - monthly borrowing base documents, quarterly compliance documents, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Work with CPA firm to complete annual review process and tax reporting. 
  • Manage Knott’s involvement in its member owned healthcare group
  • Establish and maintain an effective cash management plan. Ensure that cash management policies align with the organization’s risk tolerance and policies. Work closely with lender to ensure access to credit to fund operations.
  • Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team in the formulation and execution of the annual planning process. 
  • Ensure Knott Mechanical maintains appropriate risk management and insurance coverage.
  • Review of client contracts to ensure Knott is in compliance, and separately protected against language that would be detrimental to the business.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership on financial processes and reporting, funding, payroll, timekeeping, and other related information systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the Information Technology team to ensure systems meet the business needs, including adequate protection from cyber-security risks.
  • Have overall responsibility of administrative functions, including: risk management, compliance, and security activities; and other administrative matters. 
  • Perform the full range of supervisory duties, including evaluating employee performance; making recommendations for appointment and promotion; hearing and resolving complaints; identifying development and training needs of employees within Knott; and other related supervisory tasks. 
  • Recruit, maintain, and develop staff consistent with business needs.

Qualifications 

  • Strong alignment with Knott’s core values and vision.
  • A BS degree in Accounting is highly preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility; preferably in a service environment, including payroll reporting, financial statement analysis and systems-based applications.
  • Advanced proficiency and technical aptitude with Accounting software, Excel required.
  • This individual must possess a strong commitment to and reputation for ethical behavior and a demonstrated commitment to leading with integrity.
  • A self-starter able to administer a number of open, ongoing assignments at any one time, where some assignments are routinely unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent judgment. Ability to represent the organization to a variety of both internal and external constituencies.
  • Proven success in building rapport, fostering effective relationships, navigating complex environments and in-depth experience with successfully harmonizing diverse and competing interests. Possess the flexibility required in order to adapt to the diverse needs of the employees.
  • Must have exceptional emotional intelligence/interpersonal skills and be able to motivate and inspire employees at all levels of the organization to enhance team commitment and individual performance. Proven ability to develop, coach, and mentor staff, providing constant feedback and clear direction.
  • Ability to foster an environment of creativity and innovation, focusing on the empowerment and support of staff through tools and continuous process improvement. 
  • Ability to think broadly and strategically, including the ability to translate long-term goals and objectives into short-term tactical plans and operational activities.

Target all in compensation for the role: $180-200K
