How You Will Make an Impact:
The Senior Power Distribution Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems and controls. This position ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical power infrastructure across commercial, industrial, and military applications. The role also provides technical expertise, supports utility-scale and distributed energy projects, and mentors junior engineers to foster team growth and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and analysis of power distribution systems, including one-line diagrams, load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and operating sequence/coordination studies.
- Specify and select electrical equipment, including switchgear, controllers, transformers, protection devices, cables, and panels.
- Testing of DC and battery systems
- Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on integration of generators, energy storage systems (ESS), commercial power, and renewable energy sources.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL, IEC, NFPA 70E).
- Prepare detailed technical specifications and review vendor proposals for power distribution equipment.
- Support installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of power systems.
- Conduct site surveys and support field operations as needed.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Interface with clients, project managers, and third-party stakeholders to deliver project requirements.
- Know and comply with all safety policies, standards, and procedures that apply to your job.
- Actively participate in all required training and safety meetings.
- Use the correct tools and use them safely.
- Immediately report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
- Abide by all policies and procedures established by Moser Energy Systems.
- Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in power distribution system design and analysis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Proficiency with power system modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or the equivalent).
- Familiarity with control systems, SCADA, and communication protocols.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical safety practices and design standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must treat everyone equally with respect and dignity.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to work legally in the US.
- Pass a drug screening.
- Clean motor vehicle record.
