Attorney, Business & Legal Affairs
Who We Are:
ATTN: is the creative studio and media company that earns attention – and makes it matter. We started as a publisher, building a business around attention that amassed a massive audience, giving us rare insights and valuable distribution. Since then, we’ve grown into a full-service content studio that creates original IP and premium social campaigns for the brands, institutions, and leaders who need more than just visibility. Through creative excellence and a deep understanding of culture, we build trust and drive meaningful impact for our partners.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced entertainment, marketing agency, or media attorney to join our business and legal affairs team, supporting end-to-end business and legal affairs workflows across a high volume of concurrent commercial, editorial, and branded social campaigns. We prioritize finding compliant paths forward for creative and business teams — not just flagging risk. This role reports to the General Counsel, Head of Business Affairs, with day-to-day autonomy over standard matters and defined escalation for high-risk and non-standard work.
What You’ll Do:
- Exercise independent judgment to triage incoming business and legal matters, assessing risk and complexity to determine escalation
- Draft and negotiate a variety of production, partnership, commercial, and marketing agreements, including non-standard terms and deal structures
- Provide legal counsel on brand partnership and marketing campaigns, including FTC disclosure and advertising compliance
- Conduct clearance review across a range of risk levels, partnering with production and creative teams to problem-solve toward a workable path forward
- Lead contract negotiations with talent agencies and casting teams
- Advise production teams on guild/union restrictions and requirements (e.g., SAG-AFTRA)
- Partner with senior leadership to refine legal policies and procedures across departments
- Other business and legal affairs matters as requested
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor and active bar membership required (CA or NY preferred)
- 2+ years experience practicing entertainment, media, or advertising law, including in-house or law firm experience supporting a media, entertainment, or digital content company
- Working knowledge of intellectual property and marketing/advertising law as applied to content production and distribution
- Familiarity with guild and union production rules and IAB/DAN standard terms is a plus
- Excellent organizational and record management skills
- Flexible team player comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort using AI-assisted drafting tools and prompting techniques is a plus
