About the role
Auctane is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Marketplace Manager to architect, launch, and rapidly scale our presence on critical third-party marketplaces, including Amazon, Walmart, and eBay. This pivotal role involves owning the P&L for these channels, building them from the ground up, and integrating them seamlessly into Auctane's broader digital commerce ecosystem. You will be the strategic leader responsible for driving significant revenue growth, optimizing customer acquisition, and ensuring a best-in-class brand experience across all managed marketplaces. The ideal candidate is a data-obsessed strategist with a proven history of scaling marketplace businesses and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
This position is hybrid (3 days per week in office) and is located in Austin, Texas.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10% Travel required.
What will you be doing?
- Strategic Leadership & P&L Ownership: Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive multi-year marketplace strategy aligned with overall business objectives. Own the channel P&L, setting ambitious goals for revenue, profitability, and market share growth across Amazon, Walmart, and eBay.
- Channel Expansion & Growth: Identify, evaluate, and potentially launch presence on additional relevant marketplaces. Drive aggressive, sustainable growth through strategic product assortment, competitive pricing intelligence, promotional planning, and effective customer acquisition tactics.
- Performance Marketing & Advertising Mastery: Design, implement, and continuously optimize sophisticated advertising campaigns (e.g., Amazon Ads, Walmart Connect) utilizing various formats. Manage significant budgets, focusing on maximizing ROAS, improving organic rank, and acquiring new customers efficiently.
- Data Analysis, Insights & Forecasting: Establish robust reporting frameworks. Deeply analyze sales data, customer behavior, market trends, and competitive intelligence to uncover actionable insights. Develop accurate forecasts and proactively identify opportunities and risks.
- Content & Listing Optimization Excellence: Oversee the creation of compelling, SEO-optimized product listings (titles, descriptions, images, A+ Content/Storefronts) that drive discoverability and conversion. Implement A/B testing methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Operational & Inventory Collaboration: Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure optimal inventory planning, forecasting, and fulfillment execution (e.g., FBA, WFS, 3PL) for marketplace channels. Streamline processes to ensure efficient order management and excellent customer experience.
- Partner & Agency Management: Cultivate strong relationships with marketplace account managers (Amazon, Walmart, eBay). Manage external agencies or software partners, ensuring they deliver against KPIs and strategic goals.
- Innovation & Trend Monitoring: Stay ahead of marketplace trends, algorithm changes, new features, and emerging technologies. Pilot new tools and strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
What are we looking for?
- Proven Marketplace Expertise: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing and significantly scaling businesses on Amazon and Walmart, with a demonstrable track record of achieving substantial revenue and profitability growth.
- Strategic & Analytical Acumen: Strong ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies. Deep understanding of marketplace analytics, financial metrics (P&L, ROI, Contribution Margin), and forecasting methodologies.
- Data Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Excel and significant experience with marketplace analytics platforms (e.g., Amazon Brand Analytics, Walmart Luminate) and potentially BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
- Technical Expertise: Deep familiarity with Seller Central, Walmart Seller Center, and associated advertising platforms (Amazon Advertising Console, Walmart Connect). Understanding of e-commerce ecosystem tools (e.g., PIM, OMS, Middleware) is beneficial.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Proactive, self-starting attitude with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to navigate ambiguity and build processes from scratch.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse intern
What will make you stand out?
- Experience managing large, complex advertising budgets ($1M+ annually).
- Direct experience managing relationships with and performance of e-commerce agencies.
- Familiarity with marketplace optimization tools (e.g., Helium 10, Jungle Scout, DataHawk).
- Experience managing different fulfillment strategies (FBA, WFS, SFP, 3PL).
- Experience with Shopify Plus
