Your Impact
At Axon, our mission is to protect life and preserve truth. As an Engineering Manager working on our customer facing data platform, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver the capabilities that ingest, process, and deliver data at scale. You’ll bring your depth of experience in working with data and analytics to enable agencies to use their data for insights, understanding trends and improving outcomes. You'll join forces with product, design, and engineering teams globally to align on customer needs, understand product requirements, and deliver capabilities at scale. You'll drive the technical vision for your team, facilitating collaboration and guiding them on architectural decisions, whilst always setting a high bar for excellence through the quality and performance of your product.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers delivering and owning the Data Platform for Axon Evidence
- Drive the execution of your team by leading planning, prioritization, stand-ups, and team retro meetings
- Lead the technical direction of the team through architectural discussions and code reviews
- Work with product managers and product designers to imagine and build crucial products that enable public safety agencies around the world
- Build a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement within your team.
- Help recruit, grow, and retain top-tier engineering talent.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering with a specific focus on Data Engineering and Data Platforms
- Minimum 3+ years in a data focused engineering manager role, with a demonstrated ability to drive collaboration and alignment across stakeholders and distributed teams
- Strong understanding of modern data platform architecture, technologies, and infrastructure best practices.
- A track record of mentoring engineers and growing high-performing teams.
- Background as a Engineer, with experience in multiple languages such as Python, Java, C# and Go
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to take challenging technical concepts and make them accessible to broad audiences
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and security practices.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- You love delighting end users and have a hunger for novel challenges
