Sr. Software Developer I - Payment Processing

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Developer to design, build, and operate mission-critical payment platform services that ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance transaction processing. In this role, you will work on high-volume payment integrations, distributed systems, and backend services that directly impact customer experience and company revenue. Beyond software development, you will play a key role in platform resilience by participating in incident management, troubleshooting complex production issues, and driving continuous improvements following incidents.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable services that support payment gateways, transaction processing, and financial workflows.
  • Build secure and resilient integrations with third-party payment providers and internal platforms.
  • Implement APIs, event-driven services, and microservices that meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and security.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code while adhering to engineering best practices and development standards.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to promote engineering excellence across the team.
  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer tooling.
  • Optimize payment processing workflows to improve availability, scalability, performance, and transaction accuracy.
  • Participate in incident management, production support, and root cause analysis to continuously improve platform stability.

What you'll need to be successful: 

Must haves: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP 8.3, Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of modern backend frameworks, protocols, and architectures, including gRPC (Spiral RoadRunner), REST APIs, Webhooks, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Good knowledge of cloud environments and distributed systems, including Google Cloud Platform (Firestore, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run), Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
  • Strong skills in databases, caching solutions, and messaging technologies, including Firestore, PostgreSQL, Redis, Orleans, GCP Pub/Sub, and Node-RED.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools, such as Elastic APM and the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab), automated testing, and deployment best practices.
  • Knowledge of secure development principles, including OWASP Top 10 controls and secure coding practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in high-availability, mission-critical production environments.

Nice Haves: 

  • Expertise in payment systems, transaction processing, or fintech integrations.
  • Experience with Jira and cross-tool automation.
  • Knowledge of payment industry standards, including PCI-DSS, tokenization, and 3D Secure.
  • Experience with incident response, on-call rotations, and production troubleshooting.
