What the Role Is
In 2023, Babylist expanded into the healthcare and wellness industry with the launch of Babylist Health, following our strategic acquisition of a durable medical equipment company. Babylist Health has been live and growing ever since, opening new opportunities to deliver health services and products for people in this life stage.
At Babylist Health, we envision insurance transparency for all our patients and our Insurance Billing Specialist will conduct in depth insurance verification to achieve just that. This is a new role within the Babylist Health insurance billing and eligibility team where you’ll be able to bring your expertise and create a positive impact within our insurance eligibility and billing processes/procedures. This person will report directly to the Insurance Claim Recovery Manager and will work closely with other departments to provide the best possible patient experience.
Who You Are
- You have expert knowledge of commercial insurance billing and benefit investigations via phone and online
- You have at least 2 years of hands-on, professional insurance billing and eligibility experience
- You are skilled in pre-certification requirements, documentation collection, and submission processes
- You have a strong understanding of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding for accurate claims processing
- You are proficient in interpreting EOBs, identifying coverage, payments, denials, and patient responsibility
- You have the ability to work independently with strong multitasking, prioritization, and adaptability skills; you are also a collaborative team player
- You are experienced in appeals and denials management, including drafting appeal letters and payer follow-up
- You are knowledgeable in medical terminology, insurance benefit language, and regulations (HIPAA, ERISA, ACA)
- You have high attention to detail and accuracy in documentation to ensure clean claims and verification records
- You are an effective communicator with patients, providers, and payers; skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office, CRM/ticketing systems, collaboration tools (Slack, Teams, Zoom), and EHR/EMR platforms
How You Will Make An Impact
- Provide outstanding customer service to resolve any insurance related inquiries and post-shipment patient contact
- Bring your commercial billing insurance knowledge and create a positive patient experience and obtain additional information to verify benefits for a smooth process
- Follow up on outstanding claims (30+ days) via phone and online systems to ensure timely reimbursement and identify denial patterns
- Review, correct and submit claims rejected by the clearing house and provide any timely updates/follow up as needed

Babylist follows a market-based approach to compensation, with pay varying based on location, experience, and qualifications. In compliance with applicable pay transparency laws, the starting salary range for this role is $52,082.00 to $78,227.00 , representing the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this position.
Your starting salary within this range will be determined based on your skills, experience, and work location, with future adjustments informed by role growth, performance, and internal pay equity.
