Our Ways of Working
Babylist thrives as a remote-first company, with HQ team members located across the U.S. and Canada. We meet in person twice a year—once as a company and once by department to strengthen the relationships that power our work. We show up consistently, stay purpose-driven, and achieve results —together, from anywhere.
If you are local to the San Francisco Bay Area, this role requires working from our Emeryville, CA office 1-2 days per week. Non-local candidates should expect frequent travel to this location.
What the Role Is
Babylist is looking for a hands-on Chief of Staff to the CEO who is both a strategic partner and a builder. You’ll help turn vision into product experiences, experiments, strategic opportunities, and cross-functional initiatives that move the business forward. This role is deeply product- and growth-oriented: you will work closely with our CEO, Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to shape priorities, drive clarity, and accelerate execution on the most important company initiatives.
You’ll oversee 2–4 high-impact priorities at any given time — often tied to user experience, growth levers, marketplace performance, or evaluating new opportunities. You create momentum by bringing structure to ambiguity, communicating effectively through crisp narratives and executive-level decks, and ensuring the most important work stays focused and moving forward.
You’ll partner directly with our CEO, Natalie Gordon, who combines the vision and product instincts of a founder with the discipline and clarity of an experienced CEO. She is deeply engaged in understanding our users, setting long-term strategy, and shaping the product and business with intention. Natalie values strong thinkers who bring perspective, structure, and high-quality execution. This role offers meaningful exposure to a thoughtful, product-oriented CEO with a clear long-term vision.
Who You Are
- 10+ years of experience in product, marketplace, consumer, or general management roles within high-growth companies (a consumer background is a plus, but not required).
- Product fluent with strong builder instincts — experienced working in or alongside product teams, with the ability to use data, research, and user signals to shape decisions.
- Former PM, early-stage operator, or ex-consultant/VC who thrives on broad strategic impact and brings structure to ambiguity
- Nice to have: Experienced evaluating or working on M&A or partnership opportunities, with the ability to assess product fit, user value, and integration complexity.
- Financially literate and comfortable building simple models and business cases with Finance.
- Exceptional writer and storyteller — able to craft clear narratives, simplify complex topics, and build high-quality executive-level presentations and documentation.
- Highly cross-functional, comfortable working fluidly with Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance
- Bias toward action, with willingness to get into the details, troubleshoot issues, and ensure forward momentum.
- High judgment and trustworthiness, able to navigate sensitive information and executive-level decision-making with discretion.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Drive the company’s highest-priority initiatives (2–4 at a time), from problem definition through launch and iteration.
- Evaluate potential M&A and partnership opportunities by assessing product fit, user value, market alignment, and integration requirements.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, and People leaders to evaluate potential acquisitions, form a clear point of view, and summarize recommendations for CEO and executive decision-making.
- Partner with the CEO and functional leaders to develop acquisition business cases, integration plans, and 90-day post-close execution roadmaps.
- Create crisp, executive-ready narratives, memos, and presentations that clarify priorities, drive alignment, and support CEO and board-level communication.
- Translate vision into action by breaking ambiguous concepts into concrete problem statements, roadmaps, and milestones.
- Create leverage for the CEO by keeping initiatives moving without constant intervention, anticipating needs, and aligning stakeholders.
- Improve company-wide clarity and communication through narratives, docs, presentations, and cross-functional alignment.
- Identify and unblock constraints across product decisions, resourcing needs, or cross-team coordination gaps.
- Establish durable systems and operating rhythms (cadences, dashboards, planning rituals) that improve organizational execution over time.
- Elevate decision-making by bringing data, insight, and structured thinking to conversations with the CEO, execs, and cross-functional teams.
