
Data Center Technician

But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join our team!
What You’ll Do:
- Work as Backblaze’s physical presence in West Coast data centers
- Help maintain physical infrastructure including racking equipment, replacing hard drives
- and other system components
- Repair and troubleshoot defective equipment with minimal supervision
- Help manage onsite inventory of hard drives, cables, rails and other spare parts
- RMA defective components
- Setup, test and activate new equipment via the Linux command line
- Help train new Data Center Technicians as needed
- Help with projects to install new systems and services as time allows
- Follow and improve data center best practices and documentation
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment
- On-call responsibilities require being within an hour of the facility and occasional trips onsite 24x7 to resolve issues that can’t be handled remotely
- Workdays may include Saturday and/or Sunday (e.g. working Tuesday - Saturday)
- Shifts may include evening and/or overnight shift
- Help with shipping and receiving including moving and unpacking equipment
The Right Fit:
- Excellent communication, time management, problem solving and organizational skills
- Be self motivated
- Be autonomous and able to identify what needs to be done
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to lift/move 50-75 lbs and work down near the floor on a daily basis
- Position based in the Arizona Region may require travel to other Data Centers to provide coverage and/or to assist with new site set-up

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.
The base pay range for this position is $54,000 - $58,000.
