Payroll Tax Notice Manager

Essential Job Duties
At BambooHR, we set people free to do meaningful work, and as we expand our Payroll Services, we need a Manager, Payroll Tax Notices to lead, optimize, and elevate our payroll tax compliance processes. This role is perfect for a detail-obsessed problem solver who thrives on guiding teams, collaborating with tax agencies, and ensuring seamless payroll tax operations.
You will:
- Mentor and lead a team of Payroll Tax Notice Analysts, ensuring consistent growth and development.
- Set performance goals, conduct coaching sessions, and provide actionable feedback to drive excellence.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture that aligns with BambooHR’s values.
- Diagnose and resolve payroll tax notices, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Identify root causes of notices and develop strategies to prevent future issues.
- Guide the team in researching penalty and interest responsibilities, ensuring accurate resolution.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex client and tax agency issues.
- Maintain effective communication with clients and tax agencies, fostering trust and accountability.
- Monitor service queues and ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Ensure department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed and continuously refined.
- Stay ahead of tax regulation changes, updating processes proactively to maintain compliance.
- Create efficiencies and optimize workflows to enhance team performance and client satisfaction.
- Implement training programs to keep the team updated on tax changes and best practices.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and process guidelines to ensure operational excellence.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- 3-5 years of experience managing teams in a hybrid, in-office, or remote environment.
- 3-5 years of expertise in payroll tax filings and notice resolution.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Deep knowledge of payroll tax notices, regulations, and state and federal tax agencies.
- Proficiency in payroll tax systems like Back Office and MasterTax.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to quickly diagnose and resolve tax-related issues.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
