Product Manager II - Customer Engagement

Utah | Hybrid

Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check.

AI at BambooHR

At BambooHR, we’re all about setting people free to do great work, and we believe AI is a powerful partner in that mission. We’re leaning into intelligent tools to streamline our workflows, giving us more time for high-impact innovation. We look for curious, forward-thinking people who are ready to explore how AI can elevate their work and help us reimagine the future of HR.

Essential Job Duties

This role sits at the heart of BambooHR's customer engagement strategy. You will own the shift from human-dependent onboarding to a continuous engagement platform — solving the cold start problem for new customers, driving ongoing feature discovery for existing customers, and generating the social proof that feeds retention and acquisition.

You'll work closely with Product Teams, CX Digital Journey, Customer Marketing, PMM, and the Platform team — you'll have real partners, not just stakeholders. This is a high-autonomy role on a tight-knit, high-impact team for someone looking to push the boundaries of what's possible when you design for the future of human-technology interaction.

This role gives you a front-row seat to how a mature SaaS company rearchitects its customer lifecycle around AI. You'll build deep cross-functional relationships across Product, CX, Marketing, and Data Engineering. You'll develop expertise in engagement platform design, agent-first product thinking, and experimentation at scale — skills that will define the next generation of product leaders.

You will:

  • Drive the Engagement Platform Strategy: Architect a product strategy that uses agentic workflows and intelligent orchestration to replace manual onboarding effort — reducing the ~7-8 hours of human touch per customer while increasing activation quality.
  • Solve the Cold Start Problem: Own the "wizardification" strategy — define standard wizard patterns that every product team builds for their area, starting with PTO, EOR, and ATS. You own the framework, the design patterns, and the accountability for getting customers to first value fast.
  • Build the Continuous Discovery Layer: Extend one-time engagement events into a persistent, gamified experience — badging, challenges, in-product nudges — that helps customers discover and adopt features they didn't know they had. The New Year Summit proved this works; you'll make it continuous.
  • Orchestrate, Don't Build from Scratch: Integrate tools like EverAfter for onboarding orchestration and the Workflows Engine for in-product guided flows. You design the patterns; you enable other teams to build on the platform.
  • Design for Agents First: Ensure every wizard, engagement flow, and behavioral signal is structured so an agent environment can query "what should this customer do next?" You're building for the agent-led HRIS of tomorrow.
  • Harden Data Foundations: Partner with Data Engineering and the Supernovas team to ensure segment definitions, zero-party data, and Pendo behavioral data flow into personalized engagement experiences.
  • Establish Ownership in a Matrixed Environment: Move fast, ship visible results, and define the patterns that make the Engagement team the recognized owner of the in-product engagement surface.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

We don't just use AI — we are rebuilding our product-led growth (PLG) engine around it. Our goal is to transform customer engagement from a human-dependent, one-time onboarding effort into a continuous, intelligent platform that drives activation, discovery, and retention at scale. We need a PM who treats AI not as a feature to ship, but as an operating model to adopt.

  • Alignment with BambooHR Values: Read up here and let us know your favorite!
  • 3+ Years of PM Experience: Ideally in customer engagement, activation, onboarding, or retention within a PLG or SaaS environment.
  • AI as a Working Tool: You've already integrated AI into your daily product workflows — hypothesis generation, copy variants, data analysis, instrumentation drafts. You don't need to be an engineer; you need to think in terms of what AI makes possible.
  • Deep Lifecycle Engagement Fluency: You've designed systems that drive customer activation and ongoing adoption — not just one-time onboarding flows, but continuous engagement programs that move metrics over months.
  • Orchestration Mindset: You think in patterns and platforms, not just features. You'd rather ship one great framework that 10 teams build on than build 3 things yourself.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: You take initiative and create clarity when there isn't any. You switch easily between creative hypothesis generation and cold, analytical thinking.

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You

  • You've shipped agent-assisted operational workflows or AI-driven onboarding experiences.
  • You've used tools like Pendo, Amplitude, or Mixpanel to build behavioral segments and turn them into personalized in-product experiences.
  • You've run gamified engagement programs, community-driven adoption campaigns, or lifecycle nudge systems.
  • You have experience working across CX, Marketing, and Product in a matrixed environment.

What You'll Love About Us

  • A Great Company Culture that has been recognized by multiple organizations like Inc, and Salt Lake Tribune
  • Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance
  • Generous leave policies that include 4 weeks of vacation, 12 company holidays, parental leave, and volunteer time off so you can enjoy quality of life
  • 401k plans with up to 6% company match
  • $2000 Paid-Paid Vacation bonus

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
