The Role:

One of Banyan’s portfolio companies in Spain is searching for a CEO to continue the success and evolution of their business. The CEO is the most senior executive of the company and the central figure in defining its strategic direction, commercial success, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Group's European Management Partner, the CEO will be responsible for sustaining and growing an existing portfolio of long-term public sector clients, while leading the company's commercial development — including new client acquisition, tender strategy, and service expansion.

Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary executive relationship owner for key public sector clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction, retention, and contract renewal.
- Develop and deepen strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders across regional ministries and public management entities.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to expand the company's footprint within existing accounts.

Building & Overseeing the Commercial Function
- Lead a dedicated Commercial Director (or equivalent Head of Sales/Business Development) who will own and lead day-to-day commercial execution — including pipeline management, tender submissions, and new client acquisition.
- Define the structure, objectives, and resources of the new commercial function, and provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and accountability to the Commercial Director.
- Set the overall commercial strategy and go-to-market direction for the Spanish public sector, ensuring alignment with the company's growth objectives and the Group's expectations.
- Maintain executive-level oversight of all tender and procurement activity (licitaciones), leveraging your own experience in public sector procurement to guide strategy, review key submissions, and open doors at a senior level.
- Use your network and seniority to support the Commercial Director in winning strategic accounts, acting as executive sponsor in high-value or complex opportunities when needed.

Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Define and implement the company's long-term strategy in collaboration with the Group's portfolio management team.
- Oversee all financial performance, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure sustainable profitability.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the management team and broader organisation, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Manage risk across operations, contracts, and market dynamics; respond decisively to changes in the competitive or regulatory landscape.

Product & Service Development
- Collaborate with the product and technical teams to ensure the company's software offering remains competitive, compliant, and aligned with the evolving needs of public sector clients.
- Support the commercialisation and productisation of existing and new solutions, including pricing strategy and go-to-market positioning.

Corporate Governance & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Spanish corporate law, labour legislation, and regulations governing public sector technology procurement and data privacy (including GDPR).
- Act as the company's primary representative in dealings with public institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders.

Qualifications for success:

- Minimum 7–10 years of senior leadership experience in a software or technology company in Spain, with direct P&L responsibility.
- Proven track record in the Spanish public sector technology market — specifically in selling to, managing, or delivering solutions for public administrations or government-funded entities.
- Solid understanding of public tender processes (licitaciones) in Spain and the Ley de Contratos del Sector Público (LCSP); must be credible and effective at a strategic and senior level within public procurement environments, even if day-to-day execution is led by a dedicated commercial team.
- Ability to set a clear long-term direction while remaining operationally agile and execution-focused in the near term.
- Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams; experience managing organisations of 20–50 people in a flat, collaborative structure.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish; confident presenter to clients, boards, and public institutions.
