Product Manager
TechGrove AI Engineering Pod
You are the person who makes a great engineering team feel effortless. You turn priorities into a clean backlog, protect the team’s focus, remove obstacles before they become blockers, and give leadership a calm, honest view of progress and risk. You love shipping, and you measure yourself by what the team delivers.
As Product Manager you own the delivery engine of an AI Engineering Pod. You are not the Product Owner: the OpCo keeps ownership of product vision and prioritization. You are accountable for turning that vision into shipped features. You own the backlog, drive the cadence, and run the pod as a high-performing, AI-native Agile team.
If you want to run delivery for a small, senior team building with AI at its core, this role is for you.
About the Pod
A TechGrove AI Engineering Pod is a self-contained, AI-native software delivery team that we embed inside one of our Operating Companies (OpCos) to build, modernize, and ship production software. Each pod pairs senior engineering talent with agentic AI tooling such as Claude Code, plus the accelerators of Banyan’s AI Application Modernization Factory, to deliver at a velocity and quality bar a traditional team cannot match.
A pod is typically four to eight people, and OpCos add more pods as their ambitions grow. You will work as part of a tight, high-trust team with real ownership of what you build. Pods are delivered from Banyan’s India-based TechGrove.
What You Will Do
- Own feature delivery: Own end-to-end delivery from backlog to production, accountable for the pod consistently shipping high-quality software against the Product Owner’s priorities.
- Manage the backlog: Own and groom the product backlog, translating the Product Owner’s vision into well-formed, ready-to-build user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate Agile: Run the pod’s ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives), protecting focus, removing impediments, and continuously improving throughput.
- Align stakeholders: Serve as the primary delivery interface between the pod and OpCo stakeholders, managing expectations and communicating progress, risks, and trade-offs.
- Champion AI-native delivery: Adapt Agile practice for a team that builds with agentic tooling (Claude Code and similar): how work is decomposed, estimated, reviewed, and accepted when much of the build is AI-driven.
- Drive predictability with metrics: Establish and track delivery metrics (velocity, cycle time, quality), and use the data to forecast, surface risk early, and drive predictable outcomes.
- Manage risk and dependencies: Identify and manage cross-team dependencies, delivery risks, and blockers, escalating and resolving them to keep the pod moving.
- Uphold the definition of done: Ensure features are tested, secure, and production-ready before release.
What You Bring
- Experience: 5+ years in product management, delivery management, and/or Scrum Master roles for software engineering teams, with a track record of shipping production software.
- Agile mastery: Deep, hands-on command of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and the facilitation skills to run a high-performing delivery team. CSM/PSM or equivalent is a plus.
- Backlog and requirements: Proven ability to manage a product backlog and translate vision into clear, buildable user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Technical fluency: Strong technical literacy to work credibly with senior and principal engineers: software architecture, APIs, cloud-native delivery, and modern SDLC trade-offs.
- AI fluency: Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code or similar) and a clear point of view on how agentic development changes workflow, estimation, and quality practices.
- Stakeholder management: Exceptional communication, with a proven ability to align business and technical stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
- Ownership and ambiguity: A proactive ownership mindset and comfort operating amid the ambiguity and rapid change of embedded, fast-moving delivery teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading delivery for B2B or enterprise SaaS products.
- Prior experience in a consulting, professional-services, or embedded-team model serving external client organizations.
- Familiarity with application modernization or re-platforming programs.
- Experience defining delivery metrics and reporting for executive stakeholders.
What Success Looks Like
- First 90 days: The pod has a clean, prioritized backlog, a steady cadence, and clear metrics, and OpCo stakeholders have a predictable, trusted view of delivery.
- First 6 months: Delivery is consistent and forecastable, the team’s AI-native ways of working are tuned and improving, and stakeholders rely on the pod to deliver.
Why TechGrove, Why Banyan
- Permanent home, long-term thinking: Banyan acquires great software businesses and keeps them for good. We invest for the long term, which means you build software meant to last, not to flip.
- Real ownership: You own outcomes end to end inside a small, senior team. The OpCo owns the “what”; the pod owns the “how.”
- AI-native by default: You work every day with agentic tooling and the AI Application Modernization Factory, not as a side experiment but as the core of how we build.
- Variety with stability: Pods work across a portfolio of real products and domains, so you keep learning, with the security of a permanent employer behind you.
- Growth and excellence: A Banyan Director of Engineering Excellence supports every pod with coaching, standards, and continuous improvement, so your craft compounds over time.
Should You Apply?
We have written this role to be honest about what it takes, not to describe a mythical perfect candidate. If you meet most of what is listed and you are excited by the work, we want to hear from you. Strong engineers grow into the rest, and we will help you do exactly that.
We are building diverse, inclusive teams, and we welcome applicants of every background. What matters most is the quality of your engineering, your curiosity about AI-native development, and your appetite to own outcomes.
