Sportsbook - Database Administrator

As a Database Administrator within our Sportsbook Technology team, you will play a critical role in maintaining the databases that power our core systems. You will work closely with developers, operations, and other technical teams to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability across all environments. A deep understanding of our data models and a strong passion for performance and stability are essential for success in this role.

A taster of what you will be involved with: 

Database Administration

• Own and support SQL Server environments (prod & non‑prod)
• Troubleshoot performance, availability, and data integrity issues
• Ensure HA/DR with backups, clustering, and replication
• Automate routine DBA tasks to improve reliability
• Install, patch, upgrade, and migrate SQL Server (on‑prem & cloud)
• Use AWS services for hosting, backup, and monitoring where needed

Database Development

• Build and optimize stored procedures and database objects
• Tune T‑SQL queries and manage indexing for performance
• Partner with engineers on scalable database designs
• Support database releases and CI/CD pipelines
• Design data models for high‑traffic, high‑volume systems

Tech Support & Operations

• Join an on‑call rotation
• Help investigate incidents and drive long‑term fixes

Documentation & Tools

• Maintain clear documentation and runbooks
• Use SQL Server monitoring and diagnostic tools
• Apply HA and DR best practices across systems

What we are looking for

• Extensive hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server versions 2017–2022.
• Strong proficiency in T‑SQL development and performance tuning.
• Ability to communicate effectively with developers and stakeholders, providing clear guidance on database best practices and optimization opportunities.
• Experience performing SQL Server migrations in hybrid environments (on‑prem ↔ cloud).
• Experience with AWS Cloud services relevant to database infrastructure (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, IAM).
• Experience in using automation frameworks or scripting (PowerShell, Python, SQL Agent, DevOps pipelines) to optimize daily tasks.
• Passion for learning, staying ahead of new SQL Server features, and driving improvements in performance and stability across systems.
