MINE SUPERINTENDENT

Nussir ASA, a Blue Moon Metals Inc. company, is seeking an experienced and engaged Mine Superintendent who will serve as the key link between our internal mining teams and the contractor responsible for operational mining activities. The role is well suited for someone who thrives on close communications, quality, safety leadership, and daily decision-making in a dynamic mining environment. The position will ensure that all mining operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and sustainably, in accordance with approved mine plans, budgets, contracts, and applicable regulations.
The position reports to the Mine Manager, Nussir. The Norwegian part of the group currently has approximately 30 employees and expects continued growth through 2026. The Nussir project has commenced work at the industrial site in Repparfjord, Øyen.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and hold operational responsibility for the contractor’s mining activities related to development and production, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and construction-related work.
- Ensure that the contractor complies with Nussir’s standards, internal guidelines, and all requirements related to health, safety, environment, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor, manage, and report on contractor performance in accordance with contractual KPIs, production targets, and cost frameworks.
- Actively contribute to mine planning and schedule control, ensuring that short- and medium-term plans are aligned with operational conditions.
- Identify operational risks and areas for improvement and collaborate with the contractor on continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of corrective measures.
- Develop, update, and implement procedures in collaboration with the contractor, with particular focus on safety culture, quality, and productivity.
- Work closely with other technical disciplines and management to ensure achievement of common objectives in line with Nussir’s strategies, budgets, and plans.
- Participate in and follow up on incident and accident investigations, ensuring implementation of agreed risk-reduction measures.
- Ensure the quality of contractor deliverables complies with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and modern mining best practices.
- Participate in tendering and contract processes, including preparation of bid documents and requests for various mining-related services.
- Ensure high quality stope production, with particular oversight of drilling and blasting activities.
QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIREMENTS)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in underground mining operations, of which at least 3 years in a leadership, supervisory, or coordination role.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Mining Engineering, Rock Engineering, or equivalent; alternatively, relevant and documented operational experience.
- Ability to speak, read and write fluently in both Norwegian and English.
- Experience managing and supervising contractors.
- Strong collaboration skills and clear communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Experience with mining and planning software tools is desirable.
