About the Team: Crafting Exceptional Banking Solutions for SMB Financial Services 

At Bluevine, our team is dedicated to transforming financial services for SMBs by delivering fast, flexible, and reliable solutions. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with our Product Managers and Designers to develop and maintain critical backend systems that power our banking applications. Our team consists of talented developers with diverse expertise in backend technologies, working together to innovate and create a significant impact in the fintech and SMB space.

About the Role: Transforming Fintech with SMB Banking Solutions

As a Senior Backend Engineer at BlueVine, you'll play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of our banking platform. You'll work with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into robust, scalable backend solutions. You'll have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge tools that ensure every transaction on our platform is seamless and secure.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on our flagship product - the Bluevine banking application
  • Design and build complex, state-of-the-art banking products 
  • Design and build complex features and distributed services in the cloud using a variety of Python tools
  • Develop projects through their entire lifecycle: provide technical solutions, specifications, testing, documentation, and deploy at scale
  • Scale our banking application utilizing Python tools such as Django, Celery, and more
  • Work with Product Managers to develop compelling product roadmaps and features
  • Work with designers to find elegant solutions to usability problems
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to other engineers on the team
  • Tackle challenging problems and collaborate on innovative solutions
  • Work with multiple teams and stakeholders on cross-platform projects

What We Look For:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building fast, reliable, scalable client-server applications
  • At least 3+ years of working knowledge of Python with experience in Flask/Django or similar framework
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and server-side APIs integration
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests with various testing frameworks
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to a fast-paced development environment
  • Strong sense of design and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An awesome personality and great team player skills
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Bonus Points If You Also Have:

  • Experience in AWS or any other cloud services provider
  • Experience in front-end JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or VueJS)
  • Experience with the Docker ecosystem
  • Experience with monitoring tools, dashboards, and visualizations
  • Experience in a FinTech company

New Hire Base Salary Range: $155,500-$190,500
This role is also eligible to earn annual performance-based incentive compensation in the form of a cash bonus.

At Bluevine, we recognize the importance of fair and competitive compensation. Exact compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including your experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as market trends.

This is a hybrid role. At Bluevine, we have a collaborative culture and follow a hybrid model, working onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays.
