Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Escrow & Medical Billing Coordinator to join our personal injury legal team. This role plays a critical part in managing post-settlement matters including escrow accounts, medical billing, lien resolution, and PIP claim handling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in managing lien claims, negotiating medical bills, and deep familiarity with PIP legal procedures and fee schedules.
Key Responsibilities:

Escrow Account Management:

Handle and monitor client escrow accounts.

Ensure accurate disbursement of settlement funds in compliance with trust account regulations.

Track all financial transactions related to client cases post-settlement.

Lien Identification & Processing:
-
Identify and contact lienholders, including Medicaid, Medicare, and private health insurers.

Request and review lien documentation to verify balances and ensure proper billing.

Maintain organized records of all outstanding and resolved liens.

Lien Resolution & Negotiation:

Determine and coordinate with the responsible parties (client, firm, insurance) for lien payments.

Negotiate reductions in lien amounts when appropriate and ensure timely payment.

Track deadlines and follow up regularly to prevent delays in disbursement.

Insurance Appeals:

Prepare and submit appeals to health insurance providers for denied or underpaid claims.

Communicate with insurance representatives and follow up until resolution is achieved.

Document all appeals and outcomes thoroughly.

PIP Claims & Fee Schedules:

Apply in-depth knowledge of PIP legal procedures and regulations.

Review medical bills and calculate payments based on the appropriate PIP fee schedule.

Ensure that PIP claims are submitted, followed up, and resolved accurately and efficiently.

Medical Bill Calculation & Negotiation:
-
Accurately calculate outstanding medical bills, considering applicable reductions.

Negotiate medical provider bills to maximize client recovery.

Communicate resolutions with providers and maintain documentation of all communications.

Qualifications:
-
2+ years of experience in a personal injury law firm or medical billing related to PI cases.

Strong understanding of PIP law and New Jersey PIP fee schedules (or applicable state).

Working knowledge of lien rights held by Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurers.

Demonstrated ability to resolve insurance appeals and negotiate medical bills.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Excellent communication and follow-up skills.

Proficiency in legal or billing software and Microsoft Office.
Compensation Range:
$65,000 - $75,000 USD
Compensation: The base salary or hourly range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to; prior relevant experience, business needs and market factors. Additionally, salary wages are only part of the total compensation package.
