Senior Network Engineer / Administrator

Overview

The Senior Network Engineer / Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of complex network and systems infrastructure that ensures high availability, performance, and security in a highly regulated environment subject to strict compliance controls. This role involves configuring, deploying, and maintaining network equipment; monitoring system performance; troubleshooting issues; and applying necessary updates. The ideal candidate will also lead infrastructure projects, support security initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and maintain comprehensive network documentation. The position supports enterprise-wide connectivity across data centers, branch offices, and corporate locations.

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

  • Design, configure, patch, deploy, and maintain the enterprise network across data centers, branch offices, and corporate locations
  • Ensure maximum network uptime and performance through proactive monitoring, diagnostics, and incident resolution
  • Configure and manage firewalls, switches, and Wi-Fi infrastructure (Fortinet, Ruckus, Dell OS10)
  • Collaborate as part of the IT security team to implement and maintain strong network security measures, ensuring compliance with CMMC level 2 requirements
  • Work with Systems Architect and Systems Administrator positions to deliver projects and manage the overall infrastructure as a unified team
  • Work directly with branch office support teams during outage recovery, planned upgrades, and network modifications
  • Engage with service providers and vendors to stay current with emerging solutions, manage support cases, and track key deliverables
  • Prepare and execute change requests with full testing and rollback procedures
  • Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures, according to BRPH standards
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff
  • Lead project teams, including assigning tasks and coordinating onsite resource.
  • Support compliance and audit activities related to network infrastructure and data protection standards
  • Track and report on individual and project KPIs, including utilization, budget adherence, and documentation quality
  • Participate in weekly team huddles prepared with status updates and metrics.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise network administration and security
  • Solid understanding of communication protocols, scripting, and security best practices.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, especially in high-pressure situations and outage management.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings on projects and incident resolution.
  • Ability to work with and support helpdesk team for troubleshooting
  • Experience leading change control processes and managing network projects.
  • Ability to visualize and troubleshoot networking issues unsupported
  • Working familiarity with vSphere and converged storage network architecture
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Experience working with RMM and monitoring software
  • Execute projects following approved work plans, checklists, and procedures.
  • Identify and escalate out-of-scope requests requiring change orders.
  • Document lessons learned and implemented improvements in future projects.

Other Skills and Abilities

Preferred

 

 

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Fortinet NSE4, AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Administrator Associate, or CISSP
  • Familiarity with automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Ansible) and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCC HIGH)
  • Familiarity with specific technologies: Dell Powerscale, Rubrik, Horizon, Fortimanager, Active Directory, Dell iDRAC and SCG
  • Experience with compliance frameworks and regulations (ISO 27001, CMMC, ITAR)
  • Prior leadership experience managing network projects or teams

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • The work is semi-sedentary work and requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

  • Ability to stand and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed two hours consecutively.

  • Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
