The role

Brunswick Group is seeking an experienced Research Executive to join its London team. This person will be expected to support a broad range of research work, across quantitative and qualitative research, as well as digital analytics, to generate client insights.

The role would see the person interacting with many different parts of Brunswick Group, as well as working across all industry sectors and a range of different critical issues.

The role would be an excellent opportunity for someone with existing experience of opinion research, who is looking to develop as a data-driven advisor.

About Brunswick Insight

Brunswick Insight is the firm’s strategic research hub, helping to bring a more comprehensive view of the outside world to inform the advice Brunswick gives to its clients.

The team specializes in conducting both qualitative and quantitative opinion research, as well as analysing conversations taking place in the media and online.

Insights generated inform client strategy, underpinning campaign and communication strategies, and providing key insights at business-critical moments.

The Insight team is made up of around 30 people globally with hubs in Brunswick’s London, Washington DC and Beijing offices. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds including political polling, market research, journalism and media analytics.

Responsibilities

The person would be expected to support the following research tasks:

  • Capturing client needs and translating them into research briefs
  • Advising on the selection of quantitative and qualitative methodologies and analytical tools
  • Working as part of a team to conduct quantitative and qualitative research, including designing quantitative and qualitative research, liaising with suppliers, moderating in-depth interviews and focus groups
  • Working as part of a team to gather, clean and analyse media and social media data to generate insights, using both specialist tools and manual approaches
  • Communicating research findings to clients, both in writing and orally
  • Facilitating the smooth-running of research projects
  • Working on a number of quick turnaround and longer-term projects at any one time
  • Supporting team members on new business development, involving writing first drafts of pitches and proposals
  • Promoting and supporting an insight-driven culture within the firm

Experience

  • Understanding and experience of research across: corporate reputation; message testing; public affairs; crisis and corporate issues; branding
  • A proven track record in opinion research
  • Experienced in using data to advise clients on critical issues and strategy
  • Cross-sector experience, in one or more of these areas: financial services; energy & resources; pharmaceutical & healthcare; consumer goods; technology media & telecoms
  • A good understanding of the UK and global media and social media landscapes
  • Experienced project manager able to organise a team to deliver against objectives and timeframes

Knowledge

The person should have at least a basic understanding of the following:

  • Financial and corporate communications, and the role data can play in decision-making
  • Using quantitative and qualitative techniques to understand opinion
  • How key social media platforms work, and the role they play in shaping public opinion
  • The UK and international media landscape, and how journalists/news outlets function
  • A basic understanding of statistical principles
  • Proficient in using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
