Associate

Beijing, China

The Right Candidate

You’ll be joining a team that advises leaders at the world’s most influential organizations on issues that matter most—where reputation, regulation, and geopolitics collide.

We’re looking for someone who thrives on complexity, thinks commercially, and sees the connections between public policy, public opinion, and business success. You may come from government, public affairs, corporate strategy, or policy analysis—but wherever you’ve come from, you’re intellectually curious, commercially sharp, and passionate about China’s evolving policy landscape and global role.

You understand how to identify who matters to a critical business issue—whether in government or in broader society—and how to engage. You’ll bring strong proven people skills, and the judgment needed to build trust and nurture relationships with policymakers, advisors, academics, and other influencers. You understand that credibility comes from both sharp insight and thoughtful engagement. You have direct experience working with government and the policy community, and you know how to link those conversations to strategic business outcomes.

You’re equally comfortable digging into the fine detail of a policy paper and stepping back to spot broader patterns and risks. You can connect political and regulatory developments to real-world business decisions—and explain them clearly and crisply to clients.

You’re a strong writer who brings structure to ambiguity. You are equally comfortable presenting your ideas and positions to senior executive leaders. You have a passion for unpacking complex ideas and making them accessible and actionable. You value research, conversations, and relationships equally as sources of insight.

You’re also a team player—collaborative, resilient, and energized by fast-moving situations. You thrive on big questions, high standards, and the opportunity to help clients navigate critical moments with confidence. You’re energized by big questions, and challenges that require clear thinking and strong execution.

What We Value in This Role

We value people who:

  • Are deeply interested in Chinese politics, policymaking, and public affairs—and want to dig into the issues behind the headlines.
  • Can see the path through a complex web of competing global geopolitical interests to achieve local business goals and investment objectives.
  • Bring strong proven people skills and judgment to build and nurture relationships with policymakers, advisors, and other influencers.
  • Know how to identify and map critical stakeholders—inside and outside government.
  • Write with clarity, precision, and authority across formats—from policy analysis to strategic recommendations.
  • Are comfortable presenting to senior business executives on complex and sensitive matters.
  • Understand how to interpret China’s political signals for a global audience—and how to communicate back with cultural fluency.
  • Collaborate generously and help raise the quality of thinking across a team.
  • Take pride in producing high-quality work.

The Role of an Associate at Brunswick

Associates at Brunswick are trusted advisors in the making. You’ll work side-by-side with senior colleagues on high-impact matters that sit at the intersection of business, politics, and society.

You’ll bring strong research and analytical skills to unpack political and policy shifts, provide clear written analysis, and help turn complex issues into actionable strategies. Whether preparing briefings, mapping stakeholder landscapes, or supporting engagement with government and policy audiences, you’ll help clients navigate an increasingly dynamic environment.

You’ll manage workflows, contribute to strategy development, and collaborate across practices and regions. You’ll play a key role in ensuring work is delivered with precision and impact, while building trusted relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

This is a great role for someone who is growing into their own voice as a strategic advisor—someone who is analytically sharp, politically literate, commercially aware, and intellectually curious.
