Junior Staff Accountant

Position Summary
The Junior Staff Accountant will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization. This position is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who is eager to develop their skills in construction accounting while working closely with finance leadership and operational teams. The successful candidate will assist with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, month-end close processes, financial reporting, and various accounting projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts
- Help maintain accurate financial records and accounting schedules
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules
- Review and analyze financial data for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
- Assist with job cost reporting and construction project accounting
- Maintain organized accounting records and electronic files
- Collaborate with project managers and operational teams on financial matters
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 0-3 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Experience in construction, contracting, or project-based accounting environments
- Familiarity with ERP or accounting software systems
- Exposure to job costing and construction accounting practices
- Internship experience in accounting or finance
- CPA track or interest in pursuing professional accounting certifications
