Electronic Trading, Senior SDET – Algorithmic Trading, Vice President
Job Purpose:
BTIG seeks a Senior SDET to join our tight-knit, high-caliber engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building testing frameworks and automation strategies for our real-time algorithmic trading systems. This is an opportunity for someone with solid engineering experience but ready for more ownership—someone eager to apply their skills in a fast-paced, high-performance environment where daily deployments and continuous iteration are the norm. Our trading systems operate in a latency-sensitive, high-throughput environment, integrating with global exchanges, market data feeds, and client order flows. You'll work closely with developers to test and validate everything from real-time trading logic to exchange connectivity and risk management tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and own automated testing frameworks for real-time trading algorithms, order management, and exchange connectivity
- Develop robust test strategies for performance, reliability, and fault tolerance in low-latency, event-driven system
- Work closely with developers to identify edge cases, enforce quality standards, and mitigate trading risks before code reaches production
- Expand test coverage while keeping up with an iterative daily deployment cycle
- Build CI/CD pipelines optimized for rapid, high-confidence releases
- Analyze and improve test automation for market data, order execution, and pricing engines
- Help define best practices for testing in an algorithmic trading environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree required
- Strong engineering mindset with a passion for breaking systems and making them better
- Real-world experience in software testing, automation, and quality engineering (bonus if in trading or other real-time systems)
- Experience designing automated test frameworks for complex, distributed systems
- Familiarity with algo trading, market data handling, FIX protocol, and the like is a plus
- Comfort working in fast-paced, iterative deployment cycles
- Experience with CI/CD, containerization, and both cloud and on-prem deployments
- Interest in financial markets, electronic trading, or real-time distributed systems

Compensation:
- BTIG offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, years of applicable experience, skills, qualifications, licensure and certifications, and other business and organization needs.
- The current estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 per year. Please note that certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus or overtime.
